Come up to Mayo!
Friday 22nd July Shell brought a digger and a port-a-cabin into the existing temporary compound in Aughoose. This is in preparation to start building a permanent compound in Aughoose from which they hope to start digging the tunnel for the pipeline which will connect Ballinaboy refinery to the 70 kms of offshore pipeline. They will come in full force on Monday 25th July, please come up to Mayo and show your support! A mass day of action is planned for Friday 29th July, but come up any time.

There were over 70 IRMS (Shell's private security company) present to secure the two tractors with trailers bringing in the equipment. The private security blocked off about 300 metres of the public road to allow the tractors to enter the compound. Seven people from the Rossport Solidarity Camp ran down to try and intervene but a long line of IRMS had the road blocked off, and several people were assaulted by IRMS on the public road. Two people had to receive medical attention. One person has made a statement to the gardaí regarding the assaults, but the gardaí were quite reluctant to receive the statement. |

Answer= the Irish state. The Gaurdai condone whatever these mercenary thugs do. The politicians all know what is going on BUT THEY ARE NOT BEING CHALENGED BY THE PEOPLE.
The crimes of Erris will continue untill the politicians are held to account.
CONFRONT THE POLITICIANS as well as their apointed stooges the IRMS.
The Irish State has hopes to join the UN Human Rights Council soon. We must make sure that its own State human rights record re the Shell-operated Corrib Gas Project is made known to the UN Human Rights Council at the Universal Periodic Review for Ireland on 6 October 2011. It should discourage votes for Ireland to join The Human Rights Council anytime soon.
The Irish State will be taking on the Presidency of the European Union in 2013. Will it be embarrassed by its environmental record: no ratification of the Aarhus Convention yet again this Dail session and its ignoring the EU Habitats Directive in Erris?
