Time to sort out the 'Entitled' people

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | opinion/analysis author Monday September 12, 2011 15:03author by Glengaraauthor email peter at vr66 dot com Report this post to the editors

Civil servants and discredited bankers and politicians are walking away with millions. They say it is their entitlement. Who entitled them to all this? The Government should bring in an un-entitled law

Was the Croke Park agreement the cornerstone that set up all these entitlements for civil servants?

Ireland financially is in a mess although not as bad as Greece yet. Next month Greece may not be able to pay its civil servants and retired civil servants.

Being realistic, we cannot pay retired civil servants and others that receive large amount of money and the word entitled has to be over-ridden by this Government immediately

In the next budget this Government should introduce a maximum amount that retired people will receive from the Government purse no matter what their position was in their working days. Yes, Bertie Ahern and those like him will receive the same amount as a retired civil servant and no more and if they want to complain let them!

Retired Bankers should be given the same amount and anything above that they say they are entitled to should be taken by the Government for the Government purse. It will be the retired Bankers contribution due to the mess THEY created.

Our ageing population and flight of our young people to other countries because there are not the jobs here means there is only so much money to pay retired people. What is a resonable amount for a retired peron to receive per annum bearing in mind most own their houses and haven't the outgoing expenses they had when they had families. €20,000 per annum, joint €40,000 per annum? ALL should be assessed and ensure this is the max out of the public purse for older people.
This would be for everyone, those that had agreements or use the word entitled will have to live on this, let them moan!
