Teresa Treacy Support Demonstration 6pm – 8pm, Friday 23rd September 2011. Mountjoy Prison, Dublin 7.

News Release.
Issued by the Teresa Treacy Support Group.
Thursday 22nd September 2011.

The Teresa Treacy Support Group is a campaign group set up by friends and neighbours of Teresa who are organising a campaign in order to achieve the following:

1. The release of Teresa Treacy from jail.
In the same way as the ESB applied to the High Court for Teresa's committal for contempt of court orders to allow the ESB on to her land, the ESB are legally entitled to apply to the court for her release. A suspension of the work to allow fair and proper negotiation would be good grounds for her release.

2. The Undergrounding of the powerline in accordance with European standards of best practice.

3. The protection of the native trees and woodland on Teresa's land.

Concerned individuals from all around the country are responding with offers of support and it is the aim of the Teresa Treacy Support Group to facilitate the process of organising.

On Friday 23rd September there will be a solidarity vigil and demonstration of support outside the Mountjoy prison gates on the North Circular Road opposite the back entrance to the Mater Hospital.

A media spokesperson will be available in due course, we'd appreciate your patience in that regard.

Perhaps it would be good to interview individuals at the Mountjoy Vigil for spontaneous reactions to Teresa's imprisonment.
