Parecon is a direct and natural outgrowth of hundreds of years of struggle for economic justice as well as contemporary efforts with their accumulated wisdom and lessons.

Micheal Alberts notes on #OccupyWallStret http://tinyurl.com/3zcoe4c Hes @ Dublin now 2 talk, hope 2 c him support #OccupyDameStreet #ireland #ie

Great times indeed, how it looks now that the capitalist system has fallen to its knees, and with more #occupywallstreet and #occupydamestreet might just be put to bed... How great that Micheal Albert will be over, when the #IRISHREVOLUTION is in its infant steps... There is tonnes we can learn from him and his knowledge of movements, Hes been involved since 1965...

Micheal Albert, founder of Zmag / Znet / Zcommunications, talks about the "The Stickiness Problem" in which he points out that many people have come and gone from the movement, why is this, how can it be remedied and what that might lead to. I feel we have a lot to learn from this and over the past year have made massive strides in creating spaces, acts, events, systems to allow us to get "stickier"... the whole OCCUPY movement seems to thrive on that

Heres an audio from the "Life After Capitalism" talk some years back, found at http://radio.indymedia.org/news/2004/08/2286.php
AUDIO FILE: http://radio.indymedia.org/uploads/lifeaftercapitalism.ogg (OGG format)

Micheal Albert starts speaking at 20.15 mins into the file.

31.15 he talks about WINNING - and STICKINESS

Micheal Alberts notes on #OccupyWallStret http://tinyurl.com/3zcoe4c

As to communications, I hate Twitter. It is a corporate giant and not a friend of the left. Ditto for Facebook. But making good use of these otherwise vile institutions is like making good use of any alienated, profit seeking, vile aspect of society. It is just doing the best we can. And the one-liners emerging from Wall Street put to shame what typical movement stalwarts generate when they slap the keys. You know who I mean: we activists who have been around the political block so many times that we think we own it - we around-the-blockers.

On the other hand, we really could use some longer communications from Wall Street. Why leave telling the story of the events and teasing out its lessons to mainstream pundits who have their eyes in their pockets and their noses on the ground? Some occupiers who breathe the air of the events and know their byways, should find time to provide in depth accounts - especially regarding insights, problems, and solutions which people elsewhere eager to initiate their own efforts can benefit from.

Finally, to the Wall Street occupiers or soon to be occupiers who read ZNet, here are some obvious observations: Take your time. Energy, desire, and urgency, are great, but so is patience. Patience. Whatever else you do, keep prioritizing new people. And talking about outreach, tweets are okay, emails with substance are better, but the heart of organizing is still face to face.
