Jump To Comment: 1I'm completely in agreement with your sentiment, we've had enough. We need to start putting people first and end this assault on the poorest and most vulnerable.
But look, I'm a realist, walking around in circles outside the gates of the Dail, waving signs, banging drums and singing songs is NOT GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING! Do you not realise they are sitting inside their plush warm offices looking out the window at you and laughing, its water off a ducks back for them.
Protesting, the way we do it in this country, changes nothing. It doesn't apply the pressure protesters like to think it does.
And I'm not claiming to have any answers either... its a serious problem. But I promise you, the powers that be are only too happy to see people wasting their energy protesting nice and peacefully outside like obedient little schoolkids.
I'm not one to condone violence, and I won't, but some form of more direct action needs to be taken. Methods that have been tried and failed are only going to continue to fail.
