There will be a demonstration against the household charges in the centre of Tralee on Saturday March 24th, to coincide with the national rally of the campaign in Dublin.
With only a week to go before the registration deadline 80% of those liable for the tax have not registered, and the boycott slogan of “Don’t Register, Don’t Pay” has been enthusiastically received.
Assembly is at The Pikeman statue at 1pm,
followed by speeches at The Square, with Tralee councillor Sam Locke (Independent) and Kieran Allen (United Left Alliance).
Buses are carrying protestors who wish to travel to the capital, but the local demo is being organised to facilitate those who want to protest here.
Public meetings on the household charge held by different groups have seen large turnouts, including meetings with Richard Boyd Barrett TD in Killarney and Joe Higgins TD in Tralee.
A mass campaign of leafleting in the county has been welcomed with open arms by the people of Kerry.
