DIY arts festival returns to Cork City in the Trash Culture Revue
The Trash Culture Revue is set to return to Cork for a fifth time and its biggest line up to date with an eclectic mix of art, literature, theatre, gigs, slam poetry, film, food events and workshops. It’s like no other arts festival in the country as it’s all produced on a zero budget by members of Ireland’s largest online arts skills exchange, mutantspace.com.

Mutantspace.com is delighted to be hosting another Trash Culture Revue. Having proved that it’s possible to run a festival with absolutely no money - relying instead on mutual co-operation, active participation and the giving and sharing of skills and resources - we’re now hosting our biggest festival ever.
Taking place over three days, it kicks off at The Camden Palace hotel with a Mini – Festival of Film running from 6pm. Solidarity Books will be screening two film documentaries; Jana Sanskriti and DIY or Die at 8pm and the wonderful Cormac O’Caoimh and Ants On Glass will be gigging at The Roundy Upstairs at 9pm.

Friday sees street theatre superstars ‘The Lords of Strut’ giving it loads at the Triskel Arts Centre at 6pm. Our Mutant Shorts Film competition will be screening films based on the theme of ‘Lego’ at 7pm followed by our legendary Mutant Cabaret which will be bursting with comedy, slam poetry, music and performance. Terry Dineen will be performing her one woman show, ‘The Birth Day’, at The Camden Palace Hotel at 8pm with the fabulous Liz Clark and Tessa Perry playing at Bradleys at 9pm.

Saturday is jam packed and begins in the Central Library with teenagers reading from their second poetry and prose anthology, ‘Why Can’t you Write Something Happier’. We’re hosting an all-day Theatre of The Oppressed Workshop at the Cork Circus space and have a series of discussions on ‘Counter Power and Counter Culture in the 18th Century’ and ‘Autonomy of the Financial System’ at Solidarity Books from 12pm with Vegout supplying vegan lunches throughout the day
Throughout the afternoon Bloom Boom, a street theatre performance, will be happening on the streets of Cork while at 4pm Roundhouse will be presenting their two woman show, Magazine, at The Roundy Upstairs followed by Pearse McGloughlin and the Nocturnes at 7pm. We’re hosting two workshops on Comedy and Spontaneous Speech at The Camden Palace Hotel at 4pm and at 8pm there will be a performance of ‘Couch’ by Crooked Wheel Productions.
Our Saturday ends with The Garden of Imagination hosted by RSVP at The Very Health Food Café from 7 – 10pm

Sunday is a little more secretive and chilled out with a Brunch and Music gig taking place at a secret location in Cork City from 11pm until mid - afternoon. The Garden of Imagination will be running from 4 – 7pm at The Very Healthy Food Café while Roundhouse will be performing their show Magazine once again at The Roundy Upstairs at 5pm. The festival comes to an end with another secret food event, Chaos Cooking, at a secret location in Cork City Centre.
