'Antifa: Chasseurs de Skins' (2008) 65 mins. Dir. Marc-Aurele Vecchione
"
A French documentary on how groups of mostly black and Arab youth in Paris generated a backlash against the NeoNazi skinhead subculture, and by doing so earned themselves the nickname Chasseurs de Skins or 'Skinhead Hunters'. Contains interviews with participants recounting the subcultures and the street fights which made up their lives at the time. The film covers the dynamic tensions that go right back to the roots of the skinhead movement, from forerunner of a multicultural working class solidarity to an ongoing filrtation with extreme-right politics.
Here are some of the roots of modern militant antifascism and its grassroots ties to oppositional youth movements such as punk and hip-hop.
We will also show one or two short documentaries that look at where and how NeoNazism is emerging and being challenged today.
