Bureau of Investigative Journalism report is Deeply Worrying

category international | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Tuesday March 29, 2016 22:43author by 1 of Indymedia Report this post to the editors

CIA tactics in Pakistan include targeting rescuers and funerals

This report was originally filed on 8th Mar by ShannonWatch. A recent report by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism entitled CIA tactics in Pakistan include targeting rescuers and funerals is deeply worrying. Not only are civilians being killed in the initial so-called "targeted attacks" but it now appears to be US Government/CIA policy under the President Obama administration to send in secondary drone bombing attacks on the rescuer's who go in to drag survivors from the burning buildings. Even worse, there have been several incidents whereby the subsequent funerals of the victims of earlier drone attacks have been attacked by CIA drone bombings causing huge casualties among the mourners.

This very credible report below should be widely circulated as it is deeply worrying. It reveals that not only are many civilians being killed in US/CIA drone bombing attacks in Pakistan and elsewhere, but that the US/CIA are deliberately also targeting the rescuers who go in to help injured survivors of these attacks, and worse still, that the subsequent funerals of the victims of the initial attacks are then targeted, killing very many civilians.

Here is one quote from this report complied by the Bureau of Investigative Journalists on behalf of the Sunday Times:

"Up to 5,000 people attended Khwaz Wali Mehsud's funeral that afternoon, including not only Taliban fighters but many civilians. US drones struck again, killing up to 83 people. As many as 45 were civilians, among them reportedly ten children and four tribal leaders."

This clearly amounts to war crimes by any legal definition and it is likely that Ireland may have a direct link to these war crimes. Just a few days ago Shannonwatch recorded three US military aircraft at Shannon Airport; these may well have been carrying replacement Predator or Reaper drones and the Hellfire and other missiles that are frequently used in these attacks.

The extra Garda and Irish army security at Shannon Airport seem more intent on preventing the exposure of the Irish Government's ongoing complicity in these war crimes than on protecting workers and members of the public there.
