2.30pm The Judas Iscariot Lunch
An all-Irish bill for our October screening, starting with a sensitive look at life after the priesthood. Thirteen Irish ex-priests speak candidly about how they came to be missionaries in East Asia, the Pacific and South America in the 1960s and 70s. It tells the story of Columban missionary priests who took the brave, honourable decision to leave the active ministry and set out on new life journey. (53 mins)
Directed by Teresa O'Grady-Peyton (2015)
3.45 p.m. Eat Your Children
Eat Your Children is a provocative film that attempts to document the invisible. It is a road-trip quest by two friends who emigrated from Ireland during the financial crash of 2008 and who have returned to probe Ireland’s so-called acceptance of debt and austerity. Through the road trip, they try to understand Ireland’s identity crisis in the wake of the ‘Celtic Tiger ’ and how history and culture affects attitudes to resistance.
