IREX / anti-PESCO Rally Cork

PESC) - Silence is Accetance

IREX / anti-PESCO Rally at 7pm on EU Day 9th May, 2018 outside City Hall Cork

Silence is Acceptance
Posted on May 7, 2018 by Diarmaid in Home, Press Releases
Recent statements made by the EU Parliament’s BREXIT co-ordinator, Guy Verhofstadt, and by French president Macron, regretting that the EU could not launch military strikes similar to the recent attack on Syria, reveal to us the dangers that lie behind our membership of PESCO.

PESCO, the EU’s common security and defence operations, commits Ireland to spending up to €3 billion every year for the development and purchase of weapons.

Our army already sends hundreds of soldiers to take part in EU Battlegroups, we are staffing and financing the EU’s Military Headquarters in Brussels – our military have even taken part in NATO led missions.

Why have successive Governments disregarded the long standing love of the Irish people for peace and our commitment to neutrality?

Irish people need homes and proper healthcare, not tanks or bombers!

Why are we spending billions of Euro on weapons to kill people on a mass scale?
Why are we silent in the face of war crimes?
Why are we silent regarding violations of the UN Charter and international law?
Why have we said nothing while Israel shoots and kills children in occupied Gaza for throwing stones?

Why do we allow the US military to use Shannon Airport as a launching pad for their illegal wars?

Is their a price paid to buy our silence, is there a fair price to give up on peace?
A Public Rally in defence of our Neutrality and our Sovereign Right takes place on Wednesday 9th May, EuropeDay, at 7pm outside City Hall in Cork.

The rally, hosted by The People’s Convention, will be address by Edward Horgan of Shannonwatch, by Diarmuid O’Flynn (on behalf of Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan MEP) and by Cllr Diarmaid Ó Cadhla of CPPC and the IREXIT campaign to leave the EU.
