Oscailt v4.0, the software used by Indymedia Ireland, has been released just 4 months after the last version. It can be downloaded from it's SourceForge homepage. This release introduce a long overdue feature of tagging for stories which have been a common feature for quite a long time with other software. The changes for this required considerable work to add in the management of tags and the integration of them with searching and database queries, newswire filters and their import and export. This release increase the compatibility level of Oscailt up to PHP 7.4. As with with previous release, the User Guide has been updated to document these changes.

Oscailt is OpenSource software and is licensed under GNU General Public License (GPL) and is written in PHP and uses the MySQL database. As with previous releases it comes with a basic installer and HTML Install and User Guide documentionation which are also available online. Whilst originally written back in the early 2000s for Indymedia Ireland and intended for use by other Indymedia sites, since that time the Indymedia network has largely decayed away. However the software is still quite suited for setting up grassroot types of news sites amd the software ships with several template sites giving a base from which a site could be expanded. The announcement for release of Oscailt v3.9 found here: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/107632 gives some more details on how to go about this. You can also consult the Oscailt home page and documentation.

More details on the content of the release can be found in the announcement on the Oscailt page on Source Forge and in the release notes.
