Following on from its very successful, first online nationwide show in September 2021 as part of Culture Night Ireland, Battle of the Axe is delighted to back with its first online show of the new year on January 28, 2022. Highlighted at No 9 out of 1200 events for Culture Night, the show delivered a splendid night of comedy and song. The show kicks off 2022 with an online open mic comedy and song GIG thanking frontline workers who battled so hard on behalf of us all during the pandemic.
Featuring stand-up, skits, songs and rap by Doctors, Medics, Frontline workers, and acts from all walks of life this is the cult night that is not to be missed.
This special show will include Matt Sadlier MC, Comedy Improv Duo - Kathleen King & Mark Hanratty, Stand-up from former UCD Comedy Soc honcho David Byrne, the so funny Ita Fitzmahony & the amazing Meabh Darmody. We have The Accidental Rapper making his Battle of the Axe debut on film!! We are charmed with beautiful songs from For Folk Sake - Aoife Darmody, Aideen McQueen, and Andrea Farrell. After producing the Battle of the Axe show in venues around Ireland for 25 years, Laois native Anthony Ferns is now bringing his productions online to a national and global audience.
Thanks so much to the Doctors, Medics, Frontline workers, and acts who have given their time to perform on the show as well as working so hard in their professions throughout the pandemic. It’s very much appreciated.
Profits for the show will be donated to the frontline charity heroesaid.ie
