60 'Failed' Asylum Seekers Deported

Early morning raids on houses in Dublin and the Holding Centre in Mosney resulted in the deportation of 60 'failed' asylum seekers to Romania and Moldova this morning. The Gards accommpanied them over to make sure they are delivered safe and sound into the hands of the Romanian police. Our Guardians of the Peace are probably preparing to make the journey back to Ireland this afternoon having aided in the forced transportation of nameless, faceless individuals who will be remembered (for about a week ) as the 'failed asylum seekers'. I can't help feeling that it is us who have failed these people.

Ní dóigh liom gur chaill mé ar aoinne.
Deir tú gur daoine gan ainm, gan aghaidh iad. Cad chuige san? Nárbh iarrthóirí tearmann iad? Máiseá, tá a scéal féin ag gach duine.
Cé'n fáth nach ndeirtear dúinn gach rud i dtaobh na géarleanúna? Má tá cuairteoir i mo theach agus deir sé gur mian leis fanacht toisc go bhfuil ag dul crua air ina theach féin, chuirfinn géircheist air i dtaobh a dhálaí.
Bíodh is go bhfuil croí maith mór ag an Éireannach, ná ligadh sé do aoinne eile nead a dhéanamh ina chluas
You won't find the good people of Ireland are gnashing their teeth over this. We don't want them, it's as simple as that.
You'll have to find some other appaling act by the Gardai in order to stir up your revolution. You'll need some some luck for that.
Má tá oibritheoirí de dhíth orainn, tabharfaidh an rialtas cuireadh dóibh, mar a dhéantar i ngach tír eile.
Ireland has exported millions of people to the world and they have suffered racism and sectarianism from native people.
Comments from racists and small minded people who don't know their nation's history must be condemed.
Ireland one of the few European nations who did not colonise and therefore has no use for racism to administer her colonies.
Ireland united and free will cherish all the children of the nation equally no matter where they were born, or what colour of skin they have.
Racism divides us as a nation..eradicate the English disease.
By making such a comment you are little different from those who oppose immigrants. This anti English attitude and the propensity to blame the 'Brits' for all of our problems is evidence of the sectarianism that is all too rampant in Irish society. What are Sinn Fein doing to combat either anti immigrant or anti English racism?
total cost of the operation: €120,000.
Joe Costello in the Dail today (I paraphrase) - does this government feel that this is a justified use of public money... deporting people who have none?
meanwhile, a man lying on a hospital trolly for 120 hours, was forced to smuggle in a Chinese takeaway because there was no food in the hospital. (source: Joe Duffy show)
From where I am standing SF are doing quite a bit to improve anti-immigrant racism and as to anti-English racism, I think you will find that they have no objection by and large to Chris Sutton, Alan Thompson, Paul Scholes, Ashley Cole, etc, etc.
They might have a problem with the British State unlike yourself.
BTW how are the puppies doing with their rabid kneejerk reaction to anything that doesn't have the CWI seal of approval.
“You yourself have experienced in your own person the opposition between the movement of a sect and the movement of a class. The sect sees the justification for its existence and its 'point of honour' — not in what it has in common with the class movement but in the particular shibboleth which distinguishes it from it.”
England invented racism, which is why I used the phrase "English Disease"
other than a bland statement?
a reference I could start with the Virginian Founding fathers 1616.. all Englishmen who debated if black slaves had souls...of course you can look at the occupation and colonialisation of Ireland, the British Empire and the ideology of the ruling class in Britain..but of course you have to be open to the fact that racism is a deliberate policy to justify Empire..which did not exist before that small island next door decided to export its civilisation...
hmmm, there's the small matter of the Roman Empire, the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Belgian colonies.
All of these as racist as the British Empire. Come on, you can't seriously be suggesting that the English 'invented' racism.
Unity is Strength - Your statement that racism is an English disease is wildly inaccurate.
This statement presupposes that racism has exists only as long as the English 'state'/kingdom or 'empire', therefore it racism is no older that the 10th century at the earlies. I think you find that racism is something quite a deal older than the past 1200 years. If you read the bible, you notice that the persecution of the Isrealites as slaves by the Eqyptians, was largely based on 'racial' grounds.
Also, will people stop bringining up the argument of Irish emigration to justify granting every body assylum. All Irish emigration since 1829, was by and large to seek work in another country, it was not t claim assylum from a foreign government, it was to work in another country. Assylum is a concept unknown really until the Atlantic Charter in 1944. Irish emigration is however an uncovincing case for allowing greater immigration to ireland on economic grounds.
Irish immigration was economic (to find jobs) not asylum. Therefore it is not a justification for economic migration.
Funny logic Cabhog. Or are you saying that we should only let in migrants who aren't persecuted?
Of course Empire existed before the british one..but it was not based on race as the sole criteria for rule..glad you asked this question
because you clearly and historically can place a marker where racism becomes an issue..european slavers used race to justify slavery..now arabic and african socities used slaves but they did not build an ideology where the people they enslaved were non-humans..it was the English who did so...
on
Irish emmigration was mass and based on economic necessity, I am asking why deny people the same rights that Irish people have exercised..the freedom to live and work wherever they wish..seeking asylum bogusly..well what about the hundreds of thousands of irish citizens living and working illegally in the USA are they to be dealt with as harshly as the people who seek to contribute to our economy ?
Anyone know what Airline was involved in deporting them?
to stop these deportations. Clare Daly is a shopsteward at Dublin Airport, surely she can at least try to get the workers to take action. I am sure the workers in uniform, the Airport Police, who are SIPTU members like Clare would follow her revolutionary lead.
Maybe tintin would ask her to get cracking.
Maith sibh.

Ach luaigh sibh ciníochas, stair, Sasana, galar Sasanach, cóilíneachas, cúinsí geilleagair, an costas, an aerlíne, 7rl,7rl.
Bí ag caint faoi gach ciall a bhaint as scéal seachas eithne an scéil féin
There will be a demonstration outside the Dail to protest against today`s deportations at 5.30 tomorrow, Friday 13 Feb.
Please come and show your opposition to the deportations.
Not a sitting day. There will be no one there at 5.30pm tomorrow.
It's not racism to oppose uncontrolled immigration into our country. It's merely common sense.
You'll see when you hold your demonstration that it is the wish if the people of Ireland that the integrity of our borders be maintained.
Does that include the six counties ? Irish society is about inclusiveness and equality not the politics of exclusion and deportation.
In the election hustings yesterday James Carroll, FF member and candidate for Education Officer, said that he thought the SU's anti-deportation campaign was not a priority. Darren Cogavin, SP member and candidate fof Education Officer, attacked Carroll for his position. Cogavin said that he would stand up for the rights of all students, especially those that are facing deportation. 20 students were deported/ are facing deportation orders.
James Carroll also stated that he supports Health cuts to fund education. Darren Cogavin said that he opposed all cuts and that public services should be actively defended by the SU.
UCD Students' Union will be attending the protest today outside the Dáil.
Voting takes place in the UCDSU elections on Tuesday for outside Belfield and all day Wednesday for Belfield.
"Brilliant logic Cabhog

Maybe if you tried to understand the argument Badman you may enlighten yourself.
the individuals deported were assylum seekers. However, people in this country frewunetly cite the Irish experience of economic migration to say we should deport no one.
All i was pointing out was that argument is a fallacy, as the two situations are not the same. Use the argument of the irish experrience of economic migration to justify allowing in economic immigrants. however do not try and confuse the issues of economic migration and assylum seeking. they are two very seperate issues.
since you generally have a problem understanding any convulted argument badman, this might help you
economic migration DOES NOT EQUAL assylum seeking
Irish experience of economic migration CANNOT BE EQUATED with the Roma Gypsy experience of assylum seeking
THE IRISH SITUATION WITH REGARD TO ECONOMIC MIGRATION SHOULD BE USED AS A GUIDE TO INTERNAL IMMIGRATION FOR WORK and SHOULD BE USED AS AN ARGUMENT TO ENCOURAGE THE FREE MOVEMENT OF LABOUR
I hope that logic isn't too funny for you
i have 6 asylum seekers living in my house with me, I must say they are great crack, brilliant cooks, babysitters, very funny, and offer me a refreshing new outlook on life.
That's why Bertie and Mary got the seal of approval form the Irish people in the last election.
We don't want people crossing our borders unless they have permission to come here.
The person posting as PV Doyle is the same person who posts as Desmond Fennell. Just thought you all would like to be aware of this. He impersonates some of the regular contributors too, and puts up insults of a sexual nature.
Typical communist smear tactic there.
Can you prove any of this? Will I get a call form the secret police in the middle of the night?
Gobshite.

I thought FF were setting up a branch there?
These three were posted in quick succession on different threads. I have only included the urls, the comment title, author, and time posted. There was another comment posted about the same time which impersonated Phuq Hedd and was deleted. The editors and other site users can judge for themselves.

With all of your bickering about nothing, it's no wonder my great-grandfather left Ireland. I've always wanted to return to County Donegal to see where my family is from, but maybe that's not such a great idea.
In other words, calm down. Racism is stupid.
