here is the correct link.
excuse my error in the thread.
"Cllr. Pat Daly, Director of Organisation for Fianna Fail in the Waterford Constituency, confirmed that a letter of resignation had been received and accepted. He refused, however, to comment on the identity of the member who had resigned. He added that no member of Fianna Fail would or could condone threats to anyone in any shape or form."
Of course no member of FF "would or could CONDONE threats to anyone in any shape or form". That might entail legal consequences.
But the fact is that FF is a mafia and anyone who threatens their interests does so at their own risk. The real question is would any member of Fianna Fail ISSUE threats to anyone in any shape or form ?
Another intriguing point for me is the quaint observation that the person involved was a "prominent" member of Fianna Fail but never "publicly involved" in politics .....
So what is one supposed to conclude from all this ? That he was "privately involved" in politics ? How can one be "a prominent member" of a poltical party and not be publicly involved in politics. "Politics" in the broadest sense of the word is about "public affairs" - so if you are involved in politics you are involved in public affairs. All the more so if you are "prominent". Prominent means something that sticks out (like an erection).
Perhaps it means - as I suspect it does - that we are dealing with some backroom "fixer", a local eminence gris who took care that the parts's coffers were well oiled but never actually ran for public office ? In other word an influential backroom party apparatchik who eschewed the limelight and exerted his malign influence behind the scenes.
A load of old OIRISH double-speak ... and a sure sign that the country is as it always was beyond redemption "in any shape or form" .....
A first sign of hope would be that people have begun to master the language that they speak and can use it to express themselves clearly instead of hiding behind such opaque blarney.
It would be of great assistance to us poor souls whose brains have become gradually de-tuned from the niceties of English as she is mangled and abused in Ireland and would help us in our efforts to decipher the insane babblings of all the wee leprechauns back home .........
Oh sorry I forgot, the libel laws that Queen Victoria bequesthed ye, force ye to indulge in cautious circumlocutions .......
P.S. It was on the front page.
The guy resigned. Everyone in Stradbally knows who he is, but nobody will name names (libel legislation, you know).
It seems they were helping Roisin O'Shea in her election campaign, and he decided to try to frighten them off. The story has more

Don’t tell countrypeople where to live THE letter from John McDermott entitled ‘Rural housing policy a blot on the landscape’ (Irish Examiner, Jan 14) shocked me. There is a school of thought that Dublin is Ireland and the rest of the population should live only in towns and provincial cities. It almost seems that they will round up all country people and set them up in reservations to await a fate similar to that of the native Americans. Who knows? The rural Irish in confinement might even become a tourist attraction. What Mr McDermott and like thinking people do not realise is that 'one-off housing' constitutes the actual homes of country people. In the farming community it was always the practice to have the farmhouse in the centre of the holding. Country people live in separate homes that is their culture just as city people live in a community. The people of rural Ireland and their families are fully entitled to maintain this culture. For generations country people had to migrate to Dublin where they often had to live in awful flats. But times have changed, and it is now possible for country people to live and work in their own areas. Our city cousins seem to think that the country should be a national park where they can go to their log cabin villages for a break. Under no circumstances must the natives or their dwellings be seen. Successive governments have done everything to shut down rural Ireland. They have closed schools, hospitals, Garda stations and post offices. Do not let them hunt the next generation out of rural Ireland with their stringent planning laws. They have every right to live in homes that are in harmony with their own localities. Country people should let their councillors know before the June local elections that their families won't be pushed out of rural Ireland.Mary McCarthy,Garrettstown,Kinsale, Co Cork.
Dear Sirs,
May I be permitted the kindness of replying to a letter you published, from one Mary McCarthy of Kinsale, re Fianna Fails’s “one off rural housing policy”.I quote from one of many letters of support I have received ,from one of her own neighbours in the Cork area.
“Dear John,
I read your letter in the Examiner and I totally support everything you said. There must be more people out there interested in this issue. But rural housing is only one of many issues that needs to be addressed seriously.I honestly believe that some sort of revolution is needed. This government(so called)needs to be stopped. They are selling this beautiful island down the river.I have lived in Ireland for 28 years…longer than I lived in my native country and I feel that eventually I have some sort of entitlement to open my mouth and speak my mind.I could write a book on my experiences on “rural housing”.
We have been involved in objections to “rural housing”and have appealed to “an bord planeala”.We won against all the odds. But there was a lot of foul play involved.I eventually got so angry I contacted the solicitor involved in the “Flood Tribunal”and forwarded all documentation to him.We hava not had a problem since in my immediate locality. The “one off” houses however are still being built around our village bigtime,on the skyline, turned the wrong way facing the road, horrible designs, and so on.With our objections we approached, and got help from”An Taisce”
We are now on bad terms with our neighbours, and are living with many nasty consequences. And all this because there are the most incompetent, shortsighted, greedy, arrogantuseless dinosaurs running this country,And now they have the presidency of the E.U.-what a laugh .” end quote.
John McDermott,Martin Savage Park,Ashtown,

The above makey-up "link" is a total fabrication . I doubt if there even is a newspaper of that name. It would be great if the story could be proven, but, like the link, it also looks like a total fabrication. Has anyone got a reliable source?
You forget Mr Walsh that Sinn Fein are not presently in charge of the nations affairs. If and when they are so lucky to be so,I am sure all right minded commentators will equally attempt to expose any intimidation and/or corruption ,should it occur,-to the best of their ability.!
Our more pressing problem is how to unite the smaller parties into some kind of united coalition to remove the incumbent dunghill from Leinster House!
Given the PDs much publicised opposition to being in government with a party that has a private army, will they now withdraw from the coalition with FF?
I reckon it will be interesting to see if this goes from DPP to district to circuit, and equally it would be a shame were it not to go that usual course because of something or other in the public domain.
Thanks for the thread Pasionara. We will all wait for the Justice to serve sentance and name and shame. Won't we?
I wonder if this had been a member of Sinn Fein who sent this kind of letter, would it have been reported????
