Mayday - don't be intimidated - give a hand to build the protests

category dublin | summit mobilisations | opinion/analysis author Monday April 19, 2004 11:45author by 1 of DGN Report this post to the editors

The government continues to spread insane scare stories about the Mayday protests and Gardai harassment of people publicising the events has stepped up. They want to scare you into staying at home. You can accept this or you can fight back by not only turning up at the protests over the weekend but by also helping to publicise them.

In originally planning the protests we expected the Fianna Fail/PD government to run plenty of scare stories in the press. So to get the actual message of why we are protesting and what we are planning out we printed 50,000 leaflets, which are now being distributed door to door across Dublin. (There are 390,000 households in the 4 Dublin counties).

Below are some of the leafleting sessions organised over the next five days. One or two are probably near you. Each will last a little over one hour. Turn up, give a hand and show that you will not be intimidated.

You can also print out posters from the event from http://struggle.ws/eufortress/help.html, the leaflet text can be read at http://struggle.ws/eufortress/why.html
