2 Men have just been released after being detained by the Irish gardai for about 2 hours.
They were lifted on Dame st outside the central bank at about midnight.
Brendan Flanagan, the officer in charge of Pearse St Station, confirmed that the men were detained while their details were being verified. The situation is really problematic as both men had passports and bank cards which they had produced on request while still on Dame St.
This leads one to believe that the 2 men were detained as part of ongoing garda harrasment and intimidation against anti-fortress-eu protesters.
The irony is that it is this very type of curbing of civil liberties that people are protesting against.

OK so they were picked up by the gards and then released - what were the circumstances leading up to this?
Man goes into a hardware shop to buy some spray paint. Next thing he's being strip searched in Store street Gardai station and questioned for 6 hours.
