In November, significant Revenue data on tax reliefs was issued in response to Dáil Questions from Deputies Joan Burton, Richard Bruton and Paul McGrath. The Minister for Finance announced in the Budget that all tax reliefs/schemes are to be reviewed. Ireland has a low tax regime and the intention is that many of the schemes which allow both wealthy individuals and companies to significantly lower taxes paid, should be abolished or significantly curtailed. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2Does this mean I could have qualified for an Irish Times when I was gurrier on the dole during my youth?
And while i'm at it, I could never understand why the Irish Times internet service went pop on the 13th of September 2001, yes they did say before hand "your account and all data within will migrate to our new server and we will introduce premium charges in December" but in the meantime all Igot when i opened my account was cyrillic letters. No-one ever told me in national school I'd need cyrillic letters for Europe.
Someday, in the finest memory of Douglas Gagesby (who had a few gurrier years of his own) we the peoples of Ireland will have a quality newspaper and it will be free on the internet and the crossword will be banging and the letter pages will probably not be written "in-house".
wish away laddies and lassies. I missed by brekkie this morning.
Maybe the Irish Times should just cease 'being'. Chortle.
