I still remain interested in Opus Dei as no doubt others are.
On Friday/Saturday last, there was a very interesting article on Indymedia about Tara, the proposed roadway, the linkages to US members of Opus Dei, to the history of a Zionist plan to fund the archaeology necessary to substantiate the findings of the Ark of the Covenant.
This was opposed by Douglas Hyde and William Butler Yeats.
The writer gave a number of websites.
I think the website was www.druidsschool.com
The earlier articles are concerned mainly with Opus Dei........
What pervades the label clerical and penetrates areas like Football Clubs; Schools, Swimming groups, the ordinary individual with a predisposition for Child Sexual Abuse. (Hanson, Canadian Researches says about 6 to 7% of the male population......
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin seeks transparency and truthful admission.
Is this possible?
Reading the foregoing about a married woman's with a State divorce problems with the annulment procedure, makes me ask the question - Why the secrecy surrounding people who are in Opus Dei? What are the implications of a Secret Organisation drawing from a populace......
I would suggest Minister McDowell take account of this in relation to the Diocesan Audit and it might provide a shortcut into other professions particularly where there is a predisposition to child sexual abuse and a 'mask' issue.

Think about whether there ought to be mandatory reporting
Think about why people decided to sit on the ditch literally
Think about Now.......Will there be Change? No realistically when we the Irish have a citizen running one of the largest child porn locations in the Philippines.......etc.

In the light of the Church scandals of the present time, I think the choice of essay on Opus Dei is an excellent choice.
I encountered problems several years ago, at a time I was mentally fatigued. It was at this time, I became aware of the power of Opus Dei and the secrecy.
i tried all sources but to no avail. I tried asking Professors in Trinity, people like Vincent Browne and Joe Duffy in the media and many others.
Needless to say I got nowhere until somebody put me in phone contact with Fr. McGinnity - yes the man who brought out about the 'going's on' in Maynooth in the 1980's and in particular about Fr. Ledwith.
What I can tell you is about my own experience. In December 2000 I received a State Divorce from my former husband. Within months and timed just before my final exams in Trinity, I received a letter from the Archbishops Palace.....my husband wanted an annulment and I was summoned to the Palace.
The problem I have is that he left me for a woman he was involved with and had a child (now more).
To me this is a contradiction in terms. This caused me major distress at the time and a psychiatrists letter to the Palace stating that I was unfit.......was totally ignored and a myriad of intrigue; sinister and otherwise has left me with files of unanswered correspondence from the Church. I can only conclude the mentally insane have no rights, even if they are married in excess of 12 years.... The trauma resulted in me not sitting the final exams and further health fatigue that here in 2005 I am now only recovering.
I am not bitter. I would like to see the secrecy unfurled. I am aware that certain priests charged with Child Sexual Abuse were involved in the Tribunals.
I must also add for a woman the questioning by the priests of the Tribunal is invasive, disturbing, and of a sexual persuasion.
These people had no business not replying to me. I sought every avenue......including the Law Department in Galway that is involved with the rights for people with disabilities.....I read the paper of an Academic on 'From Charity to Rights' and I wrote to commend the writer and explain the foregoing difficulty that people with acquired disabilities can come up against.
I know that there is an Opus Dei centre in Meath and that the auspices used is an education model and accommodation for students.
Their address is:
Culmullin House
Tara
Co. Meath.
Fr. Jose d'Escriva, Spanish Priest is the founder and there is major pressure for his early beatification.
It is worth looking through the recent newspapers about the lecturer in UCD who has been dismissed (an attractive pension package).
Also note that Ruth Kelly Minister for Education in the UK is also a member of Opus Dei - this has caused friction in certain quarters in England.......
I don't know if this is a fair analogy but I believe the secrecy is not unlike the Masons........Somebody else may have a different view.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Hi,
im going to keep this brief, im doing an essay on the diminishing power of the catholic church and i was wondering if anybody knows if opus dei had much power over the print media when the catholic church was at its strongest in ireland?
thanks
The Church; the State; the input from the professionals and then of course the parental role.
Neglect in the case of too many young people asks the people of Ireland who witnessed and did not react, challenge, have vision to answer a basic question Why?
What fostered such a role of secrecy in Ireland?
Now the issue that appears to be vocalised is bullying but is it more apt to discuss Power and control over.......the vulnerable, the weak, the destitute......
Again, I ask the question about Opus Dei, that reclusive, hidden and yet proslethying entity.
Does anyone know if any of the priests accused of the 'Abuse' are aligned to Opus Dei. Curiosity makes me as this question.
Does anyone know about the lecturer in UCD and her 'abuse of power' that forced the students to challenge her position and her association with Opus Dei.
A concern I have is that the belief is that money will compensate for the dreadful abuse of power and trust that took place.....
I select this quotation for people to consider
Life's Rich
'There is no wealth but life'
Another
Leo Tolstoy (1828-1920) Russian Writer
'Without knowing who I am and why I am here, life is impossible'
Will be presented to the Cabinet.
Names are given, and they don't shy on details on this heineous abuse on children.....
Last week, the legal profession were caught for their greediness regarding fees relating to another tribunal.....Thanks to some brave person and the Joe Duffy Show, a vent was created and others followed........Someone passed a comment that caught my attention .... they coined it in the words 'Secrecy is about corruption'.
When are we going to learn.
To all affected by the Ferns report tomorrow....let there be some holistic healing and let our education system incorporate knowledge about and why not ..... the Seven Deadly sins. I am not a religious person but I see need for a form of equilibrium......in the post Celtic Tiger Island of Ireland.

There is a lot of talk about Secrecy these days but I am just wondering has anyone more to add to Opus Dei and the Catholic Church in Ireland.
I have not read the De Vinci code yet and perhaps I won't....my experience with an imposed annulment is enough for me.
Reality Check : You say St. Brendan's ... I got so close to being there with secrecy and lack of acknowledgement as a person.
Michelle Clarke
Based on the foregoing 6 entries, the news of the secrecy surrounding the Pope's state of Health is a poignant reminder of what harm Secrecy has done in the past........Secrecy harbours sin.....Abuse to children is a real example here in Ireland.
Michelle
Why do people like you who hold a barometer using the words Reality Check tell lies. A lie is not real, it is to pretend to be something you are not! Nobody mentioned the word mentally ill. I have friends who are bipolar, who have had to stay in St. Brendans, so don't you make such a cheap jibe about the mentally ill; the vulnerable in our society. You must be a PD or a member of the secret cult Opus Dei.
Given the proposed Consultants Strike about health insurance and the State's commitment to continue paying same on their behalf to attend both public and private patients......Now of course the Tax Payer will of course have to pay the bill.
The Plasterer, the Postman, the electrician; the roadsweeper; the small farmer; these people can't join Opus Dei. Did you know that 'Check Reality'? Now if you have anything to say write and article that we can read and make our assessment on where you are coming from, wrong. Otherwise, have a shower in Knock Holy Water, look in the mirror and take a serious Reality Check?
Kevin Walsh (common sense)
calling people whose views you don't like mentally ill - even your master hasn't gone that far yet RC - is he testing the water?
I think a visit to St Brendan's Hospital in Grangegorman would prove very helpful in your pursuit of the truth.
If anybody can help you, and I have my doubts, I think they might be the best place to start.
Mr. Opus Dei
I was reading through Indymedia the other night and laughed at your reply to a very interesting and factual letter written by Miss Clarke.
Having sisters in the medical profession, they have often told me stories down the years on how to join the secret cult, of the 'Orange Lodge Order (O so sorry, I meant Opus Dei - sometimes I get carried away when I notice a Disneyworld letter like you have written to Miss Clarke.
Opus Dei is an organisation describing itself as a personal prelature of the Catholic Church, founded by Jose Escriva in 1928. It came to Ireland in 1947. Ironically, that was the year of the big Snow in Ireland that came in May..........It was a cold and mean Spring. I wonder was that an Opus Dei signal for what was to come.
They say their members seek daily spirituality through their daily lives and work. Opus Dei is an organisation of secret networks of professional people in support of a conservative Catholic Church. Now it never rains in Sunny California - Christ or no Bible ever mentioned Opus Dei.
When you are born in a Stable (as we believe in) he came with the philosophy Humility and Truth. When I called myself to Dalkey one day, parked outside was a convertible BMW and a Lexus - surely this is a far cry from the stable of humility.
Last year, my nieces proudly told me the good new 'The Bitch O'Connor got suspended for alleged touting of recruits to Opus Dei.........alllegedly a subte form of bullying was used by her. This is a fact, Mr. Attache, Fact No Fiction.
No my Country, the Island of Ireland, sadly has been rocked year after year now with the abuse of our innocent children who were sent to Borstal schools all around our country. There is over 7,000 people world wide still waiting for recompense and funds from priests and Christian Brothers worldwide. I live near Letter Frack which was an notorious Irish version of Auschwitz of Irish Children run by an ultra conservative Catholic Church through the 1940's, 1950', 1960's, 1970's 1980's and now the Church is facing the sale of Church properties to finance the compensation due to the innocent children.
Christ said once 'Come Little Children Unto Me'. I am a Catholic but more of a Christian. I believe in the Trinity and the Mother of God and prayer.
Now Mr. Attache I have no time for Corporate Religion within the Catholic Church so you tell me how we join and then I will phone Connemara in Galway and pass the information on to a few homeless friends, the carpenter (Christ on Earth), the plumber, the window cleaner and the ordinary Joe Soap on the Street.
I am a Doctor of Science and Engineering - surely I have a chance of getting in. I don't want to. Spirituality to me is a very special search through prayer and holding in ones heart 'Love thy neighbour as thy self'. The Opus Dei version 'Love thy fellow doctor as thy self'. Most people know that it is a secret organisation among the elite.
Miss Clarke did not use the word sinister but I am. They are a corporate organisation and corporate to me is secrecy and money is their top priority not prayer. I hope this has broadened your little narrow Opus Dei head.
Perhaps you can explain your reference to Labour and RTE, Trinity etc. and about the Orange Order.
Yours in Truth
Kevin Walsh
You said that there are two residentials in Dalkey and Tara Hill. I believe that there is (or was) another residential in Milltown, Dublin, beside the 9 arches Luas bridge.. (coming from Windy Arbour station on the bridge it is to your left on a hill). It is only 2 miles from UCD and about 4 from TCD. Hope this sheds some more light on your search.
OPus Dei are a well-known organization - there was been nothing to suggest they are engaged in anything sinister in this country? There's hardly an issue of human rights abuses. Why don't you investigate the Orange Order ....? Why not look at the Labour party hacks in RTE, Trinity College Dublin and Dublin City University Journalism courses?
I don't understand the comment:
"Minister McDowell and his wife Professor Niamh Brennan could have cross-over connections between Government and say Governance faculty in UCD. This is just an example of a conflict of interest situation that would have mutual advantages for people of a secret society."
Why pick on McDowell? They're done nothing wrong. On the contrary, one wonders if there had been any cronyism going on, then how could the Brennan report have been written?
