la pau sigue amb vosaltres! ¿are you sure you washed your hands?
a short review of international commercial media attention given to that mafia funeral moment when the 200 world leaders exchanged their sign of peace and shook each others hands during the 3 hour ceremony to bury Karol Wotyla, HH John Paul 2 "the great",
the Roman Pontiff on the 8th day of the 4th month 2005.
Let me kiss your ring. For i love you, my brother and sister in peace... the president of Israel Moshe Katsav was sat next to Syria in the "head of state" rows which wer arranged by french language alphabetical order.
& he shook their president Bashar al-Assad's hand. He also says he shook the hand of Iran.
Syria (at war with Israel) today says it was a formality. Whilst Iran denies such a handshake took place.
"I told him 'Good morning' and he shook my hand," Katsav, who holds a largely ceremonial postas head of state, told Israel's Channel 2 TV on his encounter with Assad. The Israeli and Syriandelegations had been seated next to each other. Iranian-born Katsav said he spoke in his native Farsi to Khatami (of Iran) about their common city ofbirth. Iran officially seeks Israel's destruction. "The president of Iran extended his hand to me, I shook it and told him in Farsi, 'May peacebe upon you'," said Katsav."
But today the Iranians say it was all a zionist plot.
Prince Charles of the UK sat in the french "R" row as head of state, and turned was thus just a bit forward of "Z". He gave Mugabe a handshake, neither of them like Blair. there's a photo of it here:-
http://www.guardian.co.uk/zimbabwe/article/0,2763,1455382,00.html
The excuse from the British today is that Charles was surrounded by Africans and he had difficulty recognising them but is good at shaking hands.
Blair and his wife "mantilla hijab cherie" accused by some of pressuring the Vatican to bring forward the funeral of Karol Wotyla ( and thus denying many ordinary mourners their chance to see the late pope lie in state) were in the back rows as government delegations. Those delegations wer placed according to the french alphabet and also the historic date of their ties with the Holy See.
That's how Spain and France got into the front rows of both heads of state and government delegations by the way.
The spanish & french shook hands with almost everyone but mostly after the ceremony.
In chronological order - each other, the south americans, the saudis, the africans. They didn't shake hands with the blairs. And just in case you missed it the Venezualans un did their top shirt buttons and pulled down their ties and looked really scruffy.

Jump To Comment: 1 2As we all know the UN is hosting a conference at the moment which is billed to announce its long trumpeted reforms.
RTE viewers are to be eassured that the world leadership is united on the need for new laws to prevent terror.
But.
big but.
BUT
the declaration on terrorism is not the only plate to be tasted on the table, and despite the sauces of "underlying causes", "right to insurgency" the term "terrorism" has not been defined it appears to me at least on any basis of what "terror" the root noun means.
Eating their brekkie for the UN gig gave several "world leaders" their chance to smile at the smell of cofee, included amongst them at the tippy toppy table the Kings of Jordan and Spain, Bush, Putin, Kofi Annan, ricard Lagos of Chile and the president of China Mr Hu Jintao, Mr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia, Mr Mbeki of South Africa and Vaira Vike-Freiberga of Latvia.
Now the rest of the seating plan is very very very very very very sensitive. You'd want to be nicole kidman with an afrikaans accent to get that.
They all said different things before hand, but one which "impressed" everyone was Mt Bush finally saying that the USA would drop barriers to trade with poor nations as other states did. If the USA didn't dominate world trade now, it would be a decent thing to write into a speech. But it wasn't it was pathetic, I could almost hear Geldof cheer---
all over again.
Just coz I see him on all the local telly stations I'll tell you what the King, JC Bourbon of Spain said.
OK I know he's a bourbon, or a bourbó and no-one can trace them, and they did awful things in the past consistently over millenia, but so did mine.
He said, in his on peculiar soft spoken strong word way - "you have to think about the victims and their families".
sin é.
= {You've been done by terrorism you know what the root noun terror means} & you need help, support, patience, comprehension, love, money, hard cash, deep funds of clean investment, straight hand out build your neccesity gifts, reparations from all those who just don't get it.
That goes whether you live in any of the mindsets of Belfast, any of the counties of Ireland, any of the neighbourhoods of Baghdad any of the settlements of the West Bank any of the families of the no-mans land which was (and is yet) the legacy of the collapse of the 2nd spanish republic.

Tomorrow I will have coffee and cigarettes followed by orange juice and slowly cooked oats for brekkie. I will then go to work. @+*.:.%$€&c...
Its not unusual for great or famous men or women to come from the city. Throughout history we find the admirable in proximity to each other. Doubtless we know that our age is bereft of either great men or women. One thing though may interest the reader to ponder : the little town of Yazd (which only now boasts almost half a million souls) gave birth to both president Moshe Katsav of Israel and former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami.
Yazd is in iran by the way.
the reader may learn about handshakes when both were presidents above. & by going to these links see what they're up to now.
