A Dublin "technology" company with links to Christian religious groups in America has been accused of intimidating staff, of failing to pay salaries, and sexual harrassment. Its work practices are bizarre. Fire escapes are locked. Management deny the allegations.

A number of staff members were fired for various reasons. Some staff went without pay for up to 10 weeks. If the ex-staff members did receive P45s a number were duplicated, with different information. Some of these people suspect they were fired for asking two many questions.

Global Mobile Vision was incorporated in the UK in August 2004 and has had offices in Nangor road business park in Clondalkin since November 2004. The company is run by David Crownborn, his wife, Esther Crownborn, his brother, Matthew Crownborn and the latter’s wife Deborah King.

The company’s main contacts are with American Evangelist groups, staff said. It has recently being involved in contacts in the US with evangelist media organisations about collaborating in business ventures.

Up to last Wednesday, Global Mobile Vision employed between approx. 60 staff at its offices in Clondalkin, north Dublin. GMV supposedly develops software for audio and video streaming technologies for 3G phones. Yet, a search of Vodafone, O2, Hutchinson, and other 2G and 3G mobile operators turn up a big zero for any partnerships. A search for "Global Mobile Vision" and other related search terms shows up nothing. Zero. Nil. No inbound, or outbound links anywhere. Very strange for a "high technology company with valuable intellectual property". Its so "high technology" that no one know what they "do". One would be forgiven for classifying this as "snakeoil". Current and former staff said that they did almost no work at the company, they received few orders, no conrete work (other than "go search the Internet for a while"). One ex-staff member said "after one week, I eventually got a computer but it had no software. I had to use my own software - I told them I would use until I got me some official legal software but it never arrived."

This was commonplace.

John Bates, an employee who is currently suspended from work, was detained last Wednesday 8th June as he tried to leave the office. He was accused by management of stealing IP ('Intellectual Property') from the company. No evidence was given. He was surrounded by a large number of people (including staff from Crimeforce Ireland, a security guard company), and until the Gardaí were called, he was held against his will in the GMV offices. After the Gardaí advised GMV to either a) make an allegation, or b) let Mr. Bates go, Mr. Bates left the offices accompanied by Finian McGrath, TD (Independent) for North Dublin, the Gardaí, and a number of journalists. You can read the full details of Mr. Bates account here and here.

Mr. Bates believes the reason he was singled out was becuase he was organizing staff in getting their due pay, and finding out the problems in GMV.

As stated in The Village article ''The Global Mobile Vision website lists postal contact details in London and Houston (Texas). But there are not telephone numbers listed for those addresses. A printed brochure gives a phone number in Delaware in the US, at which there is an automated message saying the voicemail service is full. Village has been unable to get through to a London telephone number listed in the same brochure. The company has no office at its official Dublin address, at 41 Lower Baggot St, but collects its mail from the building every week.'' The company states on their headed notepaper that they are registered as company number. This number is not registered with the Company Registry Office for any company. Global Mobile Vision does not look like registered as a company. In fact no company is registered with these details at all. It does appear to be registered in the UK, but not in Ireland.

Until last Friday, 11 June, current and former staff were owed approx. €32,000 in pay by the company. The reasons? Problems with the payroll company, problems with the electronic banking, and other such stories. After this matter coming to the public notice (from my blogging, the Village Magazine, and political interest) these people have been paid their due wages. A small victory so far.

Staff members passports were taken, and photocopied, apparently for 'security.' They were under constent observation, both by staff and by security cameras. This was not normal. Another serious matter, the allegations of sexual harrassment were raised. Although GMV denied this and said it has ''a strict anti-harassment policy which is clearly stated in the company handbook and reiterated during staff meetings and at staff induction,'' a number of ex-employees, particularly female, said they had been witness to or had been treated like this. One woman, obviously distressed, spoke about male members of the management ''massaging the backs of women'' and ''having to give you your hug when you arrived in the morning.'' A ''hub of female staff'' was spoken about, which surrounded a male member of staff. No one from GMV has answered any questions regarding this matter. The only definate response that has been made by GMV (by Mr. Alexander Fitzgearld, the PR contact for GMV), has been to respond to a blog posting on my own blog.

At the meeting, Finian McGrath TD, paid tribute to the ex-employees and the current employees who were in pursuit of the truth with regards to the goings-on at Global Mobile Vision. He said he had met with a number of people who were visibly in fear for their situations. He said he had the upmost respect for them, and that he would follow this to the end.

Finian McGrath went to meet a number of representatives of GMV today. We have no word from him as to the outcome of the meeting.

GMV are reported to have received a large amount of taxpayer money from the IDA, for each employee they had. What exactly has happened to this money? No one seems to know. From sources I can confirm that GMV have enough money in their accounts to pay the current and former employees.

I sent an e-mail to BBC World and Euronews yesterday asking what kind of business relationship, if any, existed between BBC World and GMV. This morning I received an e-mail from a BBC World contact:

Hello and thank you for your email.

BBC World has an agreement in which Global Mobile Vision supplies the channel to Mobilkom mobile phone subscribers in Austria. This has been in operation for five months and is one of several such contracts that BBC World has with telecoms companies around the globe. We would not comment on any specific allegations about Global Mobile Vision.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write to us.

With regards

Enquiring about this BBC contract, I found out that it was a YBN contract which GMV inherited when they bought YBN. The only other business contact that can be confirmed is with Paula White a Christian religious group in America.

Finian McGrath has raised a number of Dáil questions with a number of Minister involved in industry in Ireland. The Village magazine will be running a follow up article in this weeks edition.

The story of Global Mobile Vision is not yet over. The government have to answer exactly how much these 'businessmen' received, and exactly what it was they told them to get it. Hopefully now that larger media outlets are taking notice of the story, they will have to stand accountable for what they have done.

McGrath alleges abuse of workers
by Michael O'Regan

Finian McGrath (Independent, Dublin North Central) said he had been approached by a group of workers alleging serious ill-treatment.

He said there were "allegations of exploitation, intimidation, breaches of employee rights, dismissals, failure to pay staff, mandatory working, the use of sleepers, threats and allegations of sexual harassment".

Mr McGrath, who was advised by Ceann Comhairle Rory O'Hanlon that he could not name the company under the rules of the House, said he had no alternative but to speak out and demand the truth.

"This is Ireland 2005, not Dublin 1913," Mr McGrath said.

He said he had met other members of the company in question recently. "They denied all the allegations, except the non-payment of staff issue. It is important we get to the bottom of these allegations

i'd like to congratulate runningwithbulls for keeping the pressure on and keeping us posted with the absolute scandalous goings on at this so called company.

non-payment of wages and company car rentals, recruitment agents, (who knows, maybe even the security company), cheques bouncing, intimidation, people being fobbed off and even getting fired for simply asking for what is due to them.. these aren't the actions of professionals.

the word that comes to my mind is simple: CRIMINALS.

keep up the fight.

An obvious disgrace. I can't tell from the information, but one wonders if the people who set up this operation and manage it are non-EU citizens and therefore granted work visas by Irish Authorities. Clearly, another example of "a cock and bull" story ((c) Michael McDowell) used to gain entry to the country for economic reasons.

The IDA need to improve their evaluation process when it comes to granting funds. How exactly could they have given this shower money based on what we know about them? They don't have any products or services worth mentioning. Could this be another case of DOTCOMitis?

It gauls me to think a company like this is let operate in this country, and walk away leaving suppliers and staff high and dry.

I would advise anyone who comes into contact with these "people" to run a mile.

Does anyone take responsibility for this when the ordinary people struggle on a daily basis to pay our taxes and contribute to society.

author by one of the wise menpublication date Tue Jul 19, 2005 17:49author address author phone Report this post to the editors

The connection paula white had with gmv was : she supposedly signed a contract with them this year, it was advertised on her website that she had teamed up with GMV for some kind of Paula White streaming package for mobile phones.

GMV had built a website for her, that was non funtional and didnt really serve any purpose. It was set up through 'world pay' and had no back end function to the website.

At the time of building ,there was supposed to be a database for the website to allow customers sign up for the service...that never happened.

Also I found out that the crownborns are now in the states, and where planning on sending out termination letters to the current employees, then open up a new business and send out new contract, the deal being they would stay in america whilst a small bunch of irish staff worked from here with monthly trips to america..Majority of the staff have resigned in the past month, same story as before..their still awaiting payment of wages and expenses...

After being on holidays for the past two weeks and also as a lack of publishable content regarding Global Mobile Vision I have not published any

As an update to this story, I noticed this morning in yesterday’s Irish Times Business section the Irish Times have run a side piece regarding YBN International Ireland Ltd, a company which is connected to Global Mobile Vision/GM Interactive.

Transcript of the article follows:
=======
Warrant issued to arrest directors

A warrarant for the arrest of two company directors was issued by Judge Alison Lindsay in the Circuit Civil Court yesterday.
John King, solicitor for HRM Recruitment Group, Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, told the court that Esther Crownborne, and Deborah King, both of The Boulevard, French Park, Dublin 5, had ignored a court order.
He said the court had directed them as directors of YBN International Ireland Ltd., Nangor Road, Crumlin, Dublin, to attend court yesterday to face cross-examination to ascertain the income of their company, but they had failed to turn up.
Earlier the court heard that judgement for €31,000 and €590 costs had been obtained against YBN International by HRM Recruitment.
Judge Lindsay said she would issue a warrant for the arrest of both women and direct gardaí to bring them to court to show why they should not be committed to prison for contempt of court.
=======

This is quite a turn up for the books in regard YBN International Ireland Ltd. YBN International was a streaming broadcast company that was bought by a group of people. Since then it has changed directors.

The sellers of the YBN company are in legal proceedings against GMV due to alleged non-full payment of due monies, after the sale of YBN.

Both Esther Crownborne, and Deborah King are involved with Global Mobile Vision, the company who was being investigated by the Department of Enterprise from the Irish government, for “allegations of harassment and bullying“.
Esther Crownborn is the domain registrant of GMVINTERACTIVE.COM, another of the Global Mobile Vision domainnames.

This is another case where a recruitment company has sued YBN International or GMV for loss of earnings.
Village Magazine, on the 18th of June, ran a story regarding IT Talent, as one of the many companies now looking for payment from GMV.

And as always, this is published from a reputable news source!

probably not although you could check with the CRO

2. Are there people still employed (?)/working for them?
yes but not many.

3. Have P45'ed employees been paid?
not to my knowledge

4. Are there people being paid at the moment?
yes but not many

5 How many people worked for them?
somewhere between 40 and 60 at one point

6. Is anybody apart from unpaid companies doing anything?
doesn't look like it. there was mention about a Dail investigation in the newspapers when this story broke first but all is quiet now. Harney said she'd look into it during a Dail Q & A session afaik. this would probably the best place to start looking for more information...

Great! Some more questions:

1. Where are these companies/people working for them based?
2. Any idea how many companies/people they have defaulted payments on or owe money to?
3. Do they or did they ever have a viable product?
4. Other than Village, has any investigative journalist taken up the running on this story?
5. Three companies appear to have taken action (two in courts) against them, are there more in the public domain?
6. How can they be contacted? Are they contactable?

1. Where are these companies/people working for them based?
As far as I know, they are "working from home" and taking trips to america. A lot of employees were asked to start working from home and then were sent letters stating that their services were no longer required.

2. Any idea how many companies/people they have defaulted payments on or owe money to?
Hard to know exactly. I would hazard a guess at 10 to 30 but that could be way off.

3. Do they or did they ever have a viable product?
Not in my estimation. They were about image. They talked the talk only. One or two ideas were good but they never advanced beyond a mock-up level

4. Other than Village, has any investigative journalist taken up the running on this story?
Unfortunately not. All has gone quiet again. Like someone who posted on the runningwithbulls.com mentioned, the best thing to do is to put pressure on the TDs who claimed that an investigation was underway. We need to know what the findings of that investigation are / were, or what its current status is.

5. Three companies appear to have taken action (two in courts) against them, are there more in the public domain?
I couldn't comment on that.

6. How can they be contacted? Are they contactable?
Hah good one. You could try contacting Alex Fitzgerald, his mobile number was once published on the globalmobilevision.com website, but it may not be there anymore. If you want to speak with "Doctor" David Crownborn himself, he used to have the number: 086 8192876 but I'd be very surprised if he still uses that number.

I'd suggest that runningwithbulls or someone else write up a story for indymedia.ie on what is known now and what questions have not been answered yet and so on (a good compilation of above plus with some analysis)

The propose it to the Indymedia Editorial group(of which, I am one of) for a feature.

Its time to revisit this GMV issue.

Its also summer so it will be very difficult to get TDs and mainstream media interested due to vacations and so on.

But if you organise a concerted effort at publicity you can get the ball rolling again.

At the end of the day, publicity can only get one so far, it doesn't win battles on its own. Think about any big strike campaign - they inevitably generate loads of publicity and so on, but they only win if they put real physical pressure on the company. Sadly, tech workers are often incredibly naive about the reality of how our class society works and imagine that there are generally benevolent forces (media, politicians) out there who will intervene on behalf of workers when they suffer an injustice. Such forces do not exist. Without proactive action which forces the bosses to act, you never get anywhere.

Imagine if the Mayo Shell campaigners had waited for the media and politicans before taking action - nobody would be aware of their existance.

To give another example, imagine if the GAMA workers had decided not to down tools and take strike action. Imagine they had decided to wait on the courts to sort out their problems for them. They would still be waiting.

There was a huge wave of publicity around the statements of Joe Higgins and various other Socialist Party members had done an enormous amount to bring the whole issue to public attention but ultimately that can only bring an issue so far. What changed the situation was the willingness of the workers to take matters into their own hands and take on their employers collectively.

Here's a question then. For those people who are involved or are about to become involved in some sort of legal action against GMV (under whatever guise); how active can they be in terms of focussing (media) attention? What i'm asking is, how far can you go without jeopradising your case against them?

I'm one of those people. I want the money they owe me so I'm going through the legal channels. I wouldn't want to give them anything to use against me that could harm my case in any way so what sort of action is it safe for me to take? Or not to take?

Can I organise meetings? Can I speak out in public?

I also do not want to drop this. And even if I don't get a red cent I want to make sure that the Crownborns (or Adlers or whatever their current alias is) and others like them don't get a chance to pull this sort of stunt again. Way too many people were burned by these criminals and it can't be allowed to happen again.

I've tried to follow the logic of this injustice perhaps somebody could add some balance to this and consider my dilemma

Are we not european's and following maastricht can we not trade across borders?

With all these anonoymous comments is there really any substance, what are people paranoid of?

Did you know that the 3 wisemen are professional aggitators, anarchists! That is why I would not align with them

The warrants issued for the arrest of the directors (Esther Crownborn and Deborah King) were instantly quashed, I know I was at the court that day to hear the outcome, furthermore HRM got their hand slapped for personalising the issue. The judge considered the approach was unnecessary and the case was thrown out of court
this leads me to believe that the issue cannot be personalised and doing so would be a mistake.

What is the logic of just having bums on seats? people being paid or not being paid for doing no work, it really doesn't make sense!

How can a business operate since April 04 and not pay people, money must have been put into the company, and we know no grant were given to them?

I too am hurting not being paid but I need to put these logical questions to you because I believe in true justice and the right of the individual to make personal choice, I will not ceed to your mob mentality and making completely false alegations, i don't want to be sued for being apart of this group and running with bull ,aka running with slanderous comments.com.

Well true justice,
I too haven't wanted to align with any mob scenario, I do want to be paid though and find it very difficult to believe that this is ever going to happen now that over 2 months has gone by and yet still nothing.
Why has there been no decent explaination for this,or at least some sort of payment structure put in place to pay the outstanding salaries???
No contact, no plausable answers, broken promises of pay dates?
This isn't false or malicious its just fact and as you said yourself your hurting over not getting paid too!!
To many people are being hurt by this to just turn a blind eye and let it just be ignored. I personally am very angry and frustrated that I let myself be kidded into believing all the promises.
What do you suggest at this stage as it seems that these people have already tried the leagal route, if you've read the other comments further down.
I didn't leave or get sacked just left to my own devices and then the odd phone call and of course then no money and now no contact and the mobiles are all on an engaged tone!!
False promises has left me feeling like a right chump and I'm sure I'm not the only one by the looks of things.
I for one will remain anonymous at this stage because I'm consulting the legal channels on this at the moment but if you want to chat thats no problem just post again here and I'll reply.

Doesn't make any sense that the judge just let her walk. Surely with so many witnesses to the fact that she was one of the driving forces behind the opperation should have been testimony enough!!

Can we not lodge formal testimony to the fact that she was romanticly involved with Matthew Crownborn and akin to the Crownborns???? We all witnessed the fact that they were together, and the fact that she was the financial controller!!!

Of course she knows what is going on, same way that Faith, Jim, Aisling & Darren all know what's going on and are in for a nice piece of the action by the sounds of it!!

Perhaps people could get in touch with HRM about this?

I for one would be happy to testify that Deborah certainly knew who the Crornborns are.

That said, she may not technically have been lying because the name Crownborn appears to be one of many aliases! I mean, does anyone know who the Crownborns are?

Also, she could legitimately claim that she didn't know what she was doing when she signed the form. My experience of the woman was that she didn't seem to know what she was doing most of the time anyway.

Joking aside: maybe there is some way to hook up with HRM in their efforts to bring down these crooks. I'm no legal expert, so I don't know if its possible to get case "renewed" with more information. I can think of plenty of people that would quite happily stand up in court and say that is simply false: she worked very closely with the people who claimed to be the crownborns therefore the rest of her statements should also be called into question.

Isn't / Wasn't she pregnant with Matthew Crownborn's child?

Come on!

Faith Fisher, is now director of YBN International , chaired the meeting , and was un-ashamedly advised by a solicitor , Brian Bailey of Lavelle Coleman.

Fisher is an employee of GMV UK.
Fisher said she is satisfied with YBN International affairs .
Directors statement of estimated affairs was issued to assembled Creditors.

Bailey seemed to be very confused as to how the board had met and where and how had Esther Crownborn delivered her proxy.

YBN International are now locked out of their registerd offices

Creditors listed included many well know companies and recruitment agencies as well as the collector general.

The meeting was opened to questions.
Apparently Deborah King has resigned , and is feeling ill.
Esther Crownborn was not present and location not revealed .

Ms Fisher attempted to answer various questions about YBN and their activities but apparently not to the satisfaction of the meeting.
Fisher did not seem to be capable of answering explicit questions regarding YBN and its association with GMV and Paracletes
Fisher was not able to account for the misgudence given various companies by YBN International employees Alex Fitzgerald and Jim Nelson.
Fisher was not able to account for the activities of David Crownborn

There was some debate as to the validity of Esther Crownborns proxy.
This was overridden by the chairman of the meeting , Fisher , as advised by Bailey.

The chairman, Fisher, refused to allow the creditors time to meet privately on two occasions.

The Boards candiate as liquidator was appointed

The paracletes liquidation meeting was to be held afterwards.

Two 3G mobile content firms go to wall
Una McCaffrey

Two associated technology companies went into liquidation yesterday with estimated collective debts of almost €3.5 million.
Creditors of Paracletes Technologies Limited and YBN International (Ireland) Limited heard at meetings in Dublin that Edward Walsh had been appointed as liquidator to both companies.
The two firms were involved in the development of third-generation technologies for mobile phones. They are understood to have had a particular focus on religious streaming.
The larger of the overall debts relates to YBN International, which has a deficit of €2.2 million, according to a statement of affairs circulated yesterday.
In mid-July, the company was the subject of a claim taken by recruitment firm HRM, which obtained a €31,000 judgment against YBN International.
At that stage, the Circuit Court issued warrants for the arrest of Esther Crownborn and Deborah King, whom the court considered to be directors of the company.
The two women had, HRM said, been told by the court to attend to face cross-examination to ascertain the income of the company. HRM's solicitor said at the time that they had failed to turn up. Companies Office documents show, however, that Ms King had resigned from her role as director and company secretary of YBN at the end of May.
At that stage, she was replaced by business administrator Faith Fisher. Ms Fisher replaced Ms King as director and company secretary at the same time.
Neither Ms Crownborn nor Ms King were present at yesterday's creditors' meetings. Ms Fisher, who was advised by solicitors Lavelle Coleman, represented the directors of the company.
The estimated statement of affairs for YBN International shows that, as of yesterday, the largest unsecured creditor was Ms Crownborn, who is owed almost €2 million.
Recruitment firm IT Talent is listed as being owed €130,286, although this sum is disputed by YBN's directors. HRM is listed as being owed €31,666. Other listed creditors include Brightwater, another recruitment firm, and public relations company Murray Consultants.
The largest unsecured creditors at Paracletes were listed as being Ms Crownborn and David Crownborn, who together are owed more than €800,000 by the company according to the statement of affairs.

Do you have pointless round-table discussions with a big black dude who calls himself a "doctor" and whose vocabulary is mostly made up from buzzwords like "synergy", "mutualizing"? The meetings last for hours and have no direction. The big black dude might get up and walk across the board room table with an insane laugh while others around it titter nervously (thinking: what the hell am I doing sitting here with this fucking lunatic?) You may have been promised a very bright future because you have skills that bring a lot to the company. You might have been promised a car, maybe you already have one (but be careful, it could be a rental that they haven't paid for yet and might not ever). You might be at the end of your day and decide to go home when you are intercepted for a meeting with the aforementioned lunatic. This again will last for hours and will go nowhere. If you are feeling constantly controlled and uncomfortable and are starting to question your judgement about joining this company the chances are that yes: you are working for GMV.

My advice: leave after your first payday, if you get one.

Everything you blog is false

TOM RAFTERY has recorded an excellent interview with TJ McIntyre from Digital Rights Ireland that spotlights how easy it is to squelch bloggers. Although McIntyre's focus is on the legal tools that established brands can use to protect the integrity of their marketplace position, you don't need to use a legal instruments to shut down comments from bloggers.

During the course of one million page views on my blogs, I have received three official-looking documents that forced me to consider what I wrote, what others had commented and who had tracked back to my domains. I normally revised copy, comments or links based on those letters. However, I also probed the veracity of the official-looking letters and discovered they were not as threatening as they appeared on first glance.

A SLAPP suit is typically a lawsuit by a company (David and Esther Crownborn) to silence individuals or small groups that protest actions by a company(Running with Bulls, suppliers and employees). Their main strategy is to intimidate the opposition by spending lots of money on teams of lawyers (Lavelle Coleman). Here is some David and Esther Crownborns claims brought in their recent High Court SLAPP processings:

Defamation. Broadly defined, this is an alleged intentional false communication, which is either published in a written form (libel) or publicly spoken (slander), that injures one's reputation. There is nothing false about the allegations, these thieves did a runner and didn't pay their bills 40 suppliers and 60+ employees out of pocket. They continue to set up in the USA as Royalcom.com and take cases against anybody back in Ireland who has voiced their concerns about their dodgy business practises. More Smoke!

Malicious Prosecution or Abuse of Process. A "malicious prosecution" is a criminal or civil lawsuit which is begun with knowledge that the case lacks merit, and which is brought for a reason (e.g., to harass or annoy) other than to seek a judicial determination of the claim. The use of the legal process to intimidate or to punish the person against whom the suit is brought is generally referred to as "abuse of process."
Check their website for examples of their abusive and bully behaviour and the general calibre of their fruitcake agrument which lacks more that a little merit… www.globalmobilevision.com

Conspiracy. A conspiracy is an alleged agreement between two or more persons to commit an illegal, unlawful, or wrongful act.

A conspiracy is not 40 suppliers and 60+ employees who have not been PAID UP! More Mirrors!

IN THE latest twist in the collapse of controversial Dublin-based software firm Global Mobile Vision Ltd (GMV), the company has set up a rather odd website (www.globalmobilevision.com). This not only contains stern words from GMV’s legal eagles, Lavelle Coleman, but also an entertaining open letter to Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin. It will be recalled (see The Phoenix 21/10/05) that GMV – which ceased operating in Treland in May eas at the centre of a string of allegations by former employess, including bullying, sexual harassment and non-payment of wages. Two other software firms run by GMV directors Esther Crownborn and Deborah King subsequently collapsed into liquidation leaving whopping debts of €3.5m.

Fortunately, the new GMV website throws some light on the matter. Apparently, the problem was that Minster Martin “let ‘commies’ infiltrate government bodies to destroy the entrepreneurial spirit of Irish people”. This letter also slams labour affairs minister Tony Killeen for “encouraging a racial witch hunt” by stating that the GMV principals – both of whom are black –“may no longer be within the jurisdiction of the State”.

Oddly, the letter to Martin is unsigned and althought the website claims that the GMV principals are still in the country, no contact details are provided, Nor is there any mention made of the collapse of the Crownborn and King’s other firms.

The Lavelle Coleman letter posted on the site makes it clear, however, why an arrest warrant was issued for Crownborn and King after they failed to comply with a court order. According to the high profile solicitors, their clients failed to show up in court because their summonses were posted to the wrong address.

Am I reading this correct, there is no warrant out for their arrest, there was just a demand to turn up to court?

If this is true I am annoyed that I have been misinformed by certain individuals to depict these "crownborns' " as criminals. I never saw them as criminals, definitely naive but not criminals.

Goldhawk holds Lavelle and Coleman in high regard from my reading of things. So maybe those who got slapped should really worry, cause from what I' m seeing it doesn't look good for them.

Looks like Joe used you to further his own cause attacking the industrial relations machinery of the state in his question to the Taoiseach about GMV, Finian's Press Statement remarking "This is 2005 not 1913" . You boys may have been used by no finer people than those you expected to stand up for you and further your cause not theirs.

This has got to be racist for the bitterness and spite raging through these blogs.

I have decided I have had enough of your one sided comments, bigotry and unfair abuse and I have decided to tell what really happened here. I have no interest with the crownborns I have moved on got a great job and am looking forward to Christmas.

But can you justify these racist actions:

What a picture of David Crownborn is doing on this weblog if it isn't racist? Why would somebody take a picture? A Picture tells a thousand words!!!! And a picture of a black man with dollar signs behind him is hardly inspiring when you are trying to defend that this is not racist.

One of you ( name withheld) rang Europecar saying black people were trying to sell a BMW on the long mile road before they left Ireland.

Where is the truth in these people being Nigerian? I saw the UK passports when they went abroad and the names on the tickets as Crownborn.

I have check through the Globalmobilevision.com website and there is no PPS No. What are you talking about? Is it true that John Bates has been on the scratcher for the last six years, I thought he was a lecturer in TCD or is that a lie?

Why was your organised campaign fought through the Politicans and the Press before going through the Industrial Relations Machinery of the State?

Why were suppliers and the BBC and others contacted if all you wanted was payment. With all these being contacted it would be harder to get paid. Defies logic to me if all you wanted was your money? Unless you wanted to destroy GMV and the creditability of the crownborns.

If you only wanted to get paid you could have taken your case directly to the LRC. I have taken mine there it wasn't contested and I await the result from the LRC?

I never intended destroying the crownborn lives by getting on the back of this racist campaign to destroy GMV and the crownborns.

I'm sure Indymedia will support you in this blatant racist campaign?

I have no dealing with the crownborns, the truth is I feel sorry for them, but I am outraged that you have gotten away with this. Is this the future of an Integrated Ireland?

would you like to br provided with the original copy of the website that was online??? with the PPS number?

about 1 month ago levell and coleman was ordered to take it down by data protection, im sure john bates could fill you in more about this.

as for the employee letters in the site, i have a copy of all those emails, ALL SENT ON THE 15th OF JUNE (not a coincidence?)....and since then I think 5 out of that group of people who (wink wink) 'willingly sent those emails of their own acorde' have either lodged claims into the lrc or have asked for those letters to be taken down...

since you seem hell bent on bluring the truth here and trying to turn this into some kind of racist witchhunt, i dont think anything i say will change your mind.

I think the purpose of having pictures online of david crownborn is to make people fully aware of who he is and what their dealing with..no racist attack..plain and simple...im not sure who put the dollor signs in, but it adds a certain irony I think.

first i heard of the Europecar story, and to be honest i dont care, all I know is, at one point they owed money to Europecar, who confiscated their cars when they didnt get paid, just like the landlord throwing them out beacuse he didnt get paid, and a certain taxi branch showing up on their door step beacuse they didnt get paid...again the truth...i suppose their racists aswell....or should they have gone to the lrc?

Global Mobile Vision or GMV Interactive as its also known has re-named itself ROYALCOM and re-located to Los Angeles. This company is now recruiting staff for its "international headquarters" and is being marketed by The Bohle Corporation. The main duo of this company David & Esther Crownborn nee Adler are bringing cases against ex-employees in Ireland claiming that they tried to bring about the ruination of the company in a rasist hate campaign and are thus trying desperately to get all mention of them on the internet taken down. They have had quite a few days in court with employees and suppliers who are owed vast sums of money and as yet have not been paid a red cent.Their own website www.globalmobilevision.com has letters from former employees that were written under the watchful eyes of the directors which gives them the look of being targeted by a hate campaign. But, and its a big but, they were never targeted by any hate campaign at all!!! Is it not your right to be paid by your employer if you are employed by them?? Is it not your right as a supplier to be paid for goods and services you have supplied to a company??

More smoke-screens from these people has put the ex-employees and more importantly the Irish people in a very bad light. If we were paid what we were owed in the first place none of the comments would have been made and all of the comments made were justified by the fact that many people were left majorly out of pocket by these people.

As yet even though many of us have won our court cases against this pair none of us has recieved any money in compensation. A ew bounced cheques, more heartache and still un-healthy bank balances.

Please, please, please don't be taken in by this crowd of non-payers. They will promise you the sun, moon and stars and make you feel a million $$$'s but will never come through for you and eventually leave you with a pretty big hole in your bank account.

Don't let another fake company ruin your life as it has to so many people in Ireland.

Onward Christian Soldiers

IN 2004, the State paid fringe Christian church the Victory Christian Fellowship (VCF) 2.5m to house 240 asylum seekers. VCF is run by pastors Sheila and Brendan Hade, the listed shareholders of Global Mobile Vision Ltd (GMV). This is the Dublin-based mobile technology firm at the centre of a string of allegations by former employees of bullying, sexual harassment and non- payment of wages.

It will be recalled (see The Phoenix 21/10/05) that the allegations against the British- registered GMV were made last September in the Dáil by junior enterprise minister Tony Killeen. After the collapse of two related companies, GMV set up a rather bizarre website claiming that the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, "let `commies' infiltrate government bodies to destroy the entrepreneurial spirit of the Irish people".

According to documents lodged in the British Companies House at the end of last year, Brendan Hade holds a 16% stake in GMV, while Sheila Hade holds an 11% stake. David and Esther Crownborn, who gave an address in Firhouse in Dublin and Gerry Byrne, with an address in Co Carlow, hold the remaining shares. The listed directors here include Rathgar resident Alex Fitzgerald, who is described as the vice president of business development at the firm.

The latest unaudited accounts for GMV reveal that the company had accumulated losses of almost £1m stg at the end of August last year. These accounts also contain remarkable claims about the most recent trading year, which are contained in the directors' report.

According to the report, GMV "has been the victim of a most vicious campaign, initiated by some disgruntled employees" and "these individuals illegally initiated a `credit run' for the destruction of GMV". The report also claims that GMV "was subjected to corporate espionage, fraudulent misrepresentation and interference with contractual regulations".

Meanwhile, the Hades' Victory Christian Fellowship has lost two of its lucrative government contracts to run accommodation centres in Kilmacud House in Stillorgan in Dublin and in Milverton House in Carlow town. The church does still run its centre in Kilmarnock House in Killiney in Co Dublin, which has a capacity for 125 people.

GMV faces €1.2m judgment day
by Mark Paul

GLOBAL MOBILE VISION (GMV), the Dublin-based technology company that ceased trading last year after a string of allegations concerning harassment and bullying of its employees, is to go into liquidation with debts of almost €1.2m and will hold a meeting of its creditors in Dublin this week.

The company, which lists two Irish directors and is 43%-owned by members of an Irish-based church group, the Victory Christian Fellowship, was run by an English couple, David and Esther Crownborn who have an address in Firhouse, Dublin.

The company owes the Revenue about €150,000 and €138,000 is owed to employees. Murrays Rent-a-Car, which provided company vehicles, is owed €32,000, while Crimeforce, a security firm, is owed €13,000.

Two Irish-registered sister firms of GMV that provided mobile phone content for American evangelist television networks, Paracletes Technologies and YBN International, both collapsed last year with combined debts of €3.4m.

Global Mobile Vision, a technology company that went into voluntary liquidation last year amid a string of allegations from its staff, left a deficiency of €1.46 million, creditors were told yesterday.

A statement of affairs produced for the meeting showed the company had tangible assets of €8,785. The Irish Times was not allowed to attend the meeting.

The main shareholders, UK nationals David and Esther Crownborn, were not present at yesterday's meeting. Efforts to contact them were unsuccessful.

Global Mobile Vision is a UK registered business that had a trading address at Nangor Road Business Park, Dublin 12. It was incorporated in August 2004 and began trading immediately. It ceased trading in June 2005.

The company's stated principal trading activity was the marketing and provision of data services to mobile phones.

The company's Irish directors told liquidators Kroll, of Manchester, England, according to the report to creditors, that the principal reasons for the company's failure were "damaging allegations made by former employees" and the insolvency of a debtor company. The debtor company, which owed £326,488, was Paracletes Technologies, also of Dublin.

Two related companies, Paracletes Technologies and YBN International Ireland, went into liquidation in August 2005, leaving debts estimated at €3.5 million.

Employees are owed more than €160,000 in wage arrears and other payments, according to the statement of affairs. The Revenue is owed €150,633. Trade creditors total €115,179, while directors loans are €1 million.

The statement of affairs showed the company had laptop computers worth an estimated €8,785 and no other assets.

The trade creditors include: Crimeforce Ireland Property Protection (€8,468); Heneghan PR (€21,780); Murrays Rent-a-Car (€32,000); NTL Communications (€10,663); and O2 (€13,947).

Director Gerry Byrne, of Milverton House, Carlow, is owed €35,000, according to the statement of affairs. He could not be contacted yesterday. David and Esther Crownborn, of Kilininy Court, Firhouse, Dublin, are owed €680,928.

Shareholder directors are the Crownborns, Mr Byrne, Brendan Hale and Sheila Hade. The last three directors are associated with the Victory Christian Fellowship, of Westland Row, Dublin.

Last year, independent TD Finian McGrath told the Dáil that employees at the company had approached him with allegations of exploitation, intimidation, breach of rights, dismissals, failure to pay staff, mandatory working, threats and sexual harassment. He said he had been told of incidents where members of staff, especially female employees, were asked to give managers "hugs".

Global Mobile Vision has a website but does not state on it where it is located. A document on the site indicates it may have a business in Delaware. On the website, the company says the Crownborns invested more than €5 million in its Dublin operation. It said some employees did not prove suitable and were let go during their training period. It also says the company experienced some early cash-flow problems.

"Since these trainee and disgruntled former employees did not have any legal or legitimate claims to make against Global Mobile Vision and against David and Esther, some of them decided to take their alleged claims to the alternative tabloid press and to some rather fringe or extremist politicians," the website states.

A former employee of Global Mobile Vision Limited (GMV), the technology company that went into voluntary liquidation last year amid a number of allegations from staff, went to court yesterday to enforce an unfair dismissal award.

John Bates asked the county registrar to enforce the €9,000 award made in his favour in December by the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).

Mr Bates was also seeking costs in yesterday's case.
The €9,000 award had not been appealed by GMV and the company was not represented at yesterday's proceedings.

Mr Bates, who represented himself, was suspended from GMV in June last year. The company, which specialised in mobile streaming technology, ceased trading the same month.

Creditors of GMV heard earlier this week that it had left a deficiency of €1.46 million, including more than €160,000 owed to employees. The employees learned after the creditors' meeting that their claims should be paid by the Redundancy and Employers' Insolvency Fund.

Some 22 individuals from GMV won compensation awards at the LRC last year, although Mr Bates was the only employee to seek recourse for unfair dismissal due to trade union activity.

The county registrar, Susan Ryan, yesterday questioned Mr Bates's application because it referred to "Global Mobile Vision", as opposed to the company's official name, "Global Mobile Vision Limited". She said the word "Limited" needed to be added to the Rights Commissioner's determination for her to be able to enforce the award.

The registrar suggested the enforcement might be "academic" anyway, since GMV is in liquidation. This could mean there would be no financial incentive for the employees to come to court to enforce their claims.

It is thought, however, that Mr Bates is keen to enforce the award because it would then be officially registered against the company.

The matter was adjourned until March 23rd. The registrar said this should give Mr Bates time to have the determination amended by the LRC.

The Rights Commissioner at the LRC found in December that Mr Bates had been justified in seeking the support of a trade union (Siptu) after experiencing "serious difficulties" in being paid by GMV last year.

He also concluded that these union activities had been the main reason for his dismissal.

Pyramid schemes may be disguised as games, chain letters, buying clubs, motivational companies, mail order operations, mobile phone content providers or investment organizations.

Some pyramid schemes call themselves multi-level marketing operations. The sale of legitimate products is what distinguishes multi-level operations from pyramids.

When the emphasis is on recruiting new members rather than selling something of value the organization is probably an illegal pyramid.

It’s been a long and arduous road for the dozens of GMV employees who were never paid by the Crownborns. Instead they just received their long outstanding pay through LRC awards (payment of wages, terms of employment and unfair dismissals) and the Insolvency Fund from the Department of Trade, Enterprise and Employment.

As for the liquidations… they are still on going with one liquidator claiming David and Esther are no longer taking their calls…

So much for Ms.Mary Harney pending investigation and robust labour laws C**T!!!!

'Three directors of an Irish technology company with links to Christian evangelists in the US have been restricted from serving as directors for five years.

David and Esther Crownborn and their business associate Deborah King were restricted by Ms Justice Mary Finlay Geoghegan in the High Court last week for their role in the collapse of the Yard Broadcast Network, a Dublin software firm.

The three directors are also involved with a number other related companies that have gone out of business with multi-million debts in recent years.

David and Esther Crownborn were not in court last week and are believed to have relocated to the US. They are involved in a new business venture with a prominent US preacher, Paula White.'

THE SENSITIVE world of private security proved to have more problems than expected for Terence Kinsella, who has just been disqualified as a director following the liquidation of one of his companies. Terry left a trail of creditors in his wake but, luckily, he seems to have found work elsewhere.

Kinsella is a director in Crime Force Security Services Ireland Ltd (CFS), which collapsed in December 2005 with Paul McCann appointed liquidator. In total, Kinsella and his son and co-director Jonathan Kinsella, racked up debts of €690,000 and, unsurprisingly, perhaps, the Revenue has been hit the hardest with a whopping bill outstanding of €590,000, despite CFS only trading for less than two years. The Kinsellaa owe a further €53,000 to their employees with NewsTalk, CocaCola and Golden Pages have also been left out of pocket.

According to the report to the creditors prepared by Kinsella Snr, the company’s demise the result of new regulations which were brought into the private security sector after he set up CFS. He wasn’t helped by a bad debtor of his own, however, namely Global Mobile Vision Ltd (GMV) which, he claims, owed close to €30,000. Fans of Goldhawk will remember GMV from allegations made in the Dáil by Tony Killeen of bullying, sexual harassment and unpaid wages (see The Phoneix 21/10/2005). Unfortunately for the Kinsellas, GMV collapsed last year owing almost €1.2m to unsecured creditors including CFS.

Thanks to the lack of any paper trail and some awkward questions about the whereabouts of the company’s assets, Paul Appleby in the ODCE decided to stick the boot into Kinsella on the foot of Paul McCann’s liquidation report. Judge Finlay Geoghegan duly banned him from serving as a director for seven years, two more than the norm.
Happily, Goldhawk is reliably informed that Kinsella is involved with another security company, Response 24/7 Assets Protection Ltd, which has a registered address in Kildare Town and where the listed directors are Nicola Brandon and Chris Braiden.

Kinsella “does some consultancy work” for Response, said a spokesman for the company.

The Rev. Crownborn and his Wife are up to new tricks over in Tampa.

HAVING LEFT these shores under less than pleasant circumstances, what a shame that Goldhawk's old preacher pals David and Esther Crownborn are back in hot water in their latest location: Ybor City, Florida.

The Crownborns have taken their religious crusade to sunnier climes following a less-than-successful period in Ireland, which saw them both restricted as directors last year following various colourful business collapses. Their latest sect is something called the Breakthrough City Church, which surfaced in Ybor City just a few months ago but the Crownborns have already attracted a flock of over 800 members, according to the St Petersburg Times.

Attempts by Breakthrough members to win further recruits have seen them targeting a local college. A spokesman confirmed to Goldhawk that the college has called the cops three times so far to get rid of overly-enthusiastic members, including one who followed a student into a classroom. Happily for the Crownborns, no one appears to have been charged with any offence.

Ybor's thriving gay district has also attracted the somewhat militant attention of Breakthrough members although Reverend David told the St Petersburg Times that his motto is "to be gentle and kind". Former employees of the Crownborn's in their collapsed Global Mobile Vision Ltd (GMV) may disagree, considering allegations against them mentioned in the Dáil included "bullying, sexual harassment, changes in terms and conditions of employment, unfair and constructive dismissal, non-provision of payslips, late payment of wages and issues concerning P35 and P60 documents" (see The Phoenix, 21/10/2005).

David Crownborn memorably accused then-Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin of letting "commies infiltrate government bodies to destroy the entrepreneurial spirit of Irish people and their investments in Irish employees".

The St Petersburg Times also mentions the Crownborns' unfortunate business record, which will be well-known to fans of Goldhawk. Along with the collapse of the British-registered GMV, the couple also ran Paracletes Technologies Ltd and YBN International Ltd, which both went into liquidation in 2005 with combined debts of €3.5m. This shortly followed the collapse of Yard Broadcast Network Ltd (YBN), which the couple had bought from Irish shareholders including Denis Desmond (see The Phoenix, 7/10/2005).

The Circuit Court even issued a bench warrant for Esther Crownborn (David was never registered as a director) when she failed to show up for civil proceedings while the Garda Fraud Squad also made some inquiries of the couple.

Maybe Ybor City will prove less stressful.

I moved to Tampa, FL in '09. That's where I met the Crownborns. They seemed nice at first and always had nice words. I got to know them better. They made promises they couldn't keep and always seemed so secretive. I decided to be a nice person and help them out with their "business". I'm still paying for it and I never got anything for it but regret.
