Birds Ethics and Bertie

The rights of Wildlife; the ethcis of people; and the romance of our Taoiseach In research done between a number of universities in the last 7 years, it details declining numbers of certain bird species. This Spring, this has been noticed throughout Britain and Ireland.
Birdwatchers across Britain and Ireland have recorded fewer numbers of Swallows; Chiff Chaffs; Willow Warblers; Cuckoos; and spotted fly catchers. The decline in these numbers have been observed on the Bird Track Database.
The research carried out holds that the poor weather in April may have contributed to the decline in these migrating birds. The birds migrate north towards Ireland for the plentiful supply of insects on which they feed - both themselves and their young offspring. With global change now on the increase and sadly the introduction of Shell Oil company to the Corrib and the 'vested interest' (Corporate) wildlife find it difficult to survive.
Now this is where Ethics enters in liaison with Wildlife. The birds don't have Senior Counsel to represent them in their case for the Environment - only people people with the caring soul for the Earth fight their case. Those with the belief that all spiritual creatures have a right to live in Peace.
Now back to Ethics. I don't want to bore you about the corruption in Donegal but let's compare Ethics that apply to the ordinary Joe Soap and the high rankers in An Garda Siochana and Corporate Banking. If you are an employee of one of the big banks and you are caught dipping your fingers into the 'till', you lose your job and your pension entitlements and probably face prison.
However, if you are a top banking executive and brought in to hatchet 2,000 jobs nationwide, with no morality regarding the circumstances but you are caught downloading adult porn on the company computer - you get no less than a payment of 2.5 million plus a pension top up of euros400,000 (approx) plus a top up payment of euros 300,000 for expenses. Now ethically, you broke the law and should face prison but in modern Ireland, he is handsomely rewarded. Why?
Now, an Garda Siochana - I am sure all know about they litany of corruption that exists. If you are a senior officer, named in the Morris Report, as sharing the blame, for the cover-up and frame-up scandal in Donegal, you will be allowed to resign on full pension. In some cases, a pension that has been increased as a result of promotions, after charges were already underway against some of these officers, remains in place.
On the other hand, the ordinary foot soldier garda, some have been sacked and some have been suspended.
I ask the F...... question Why Superintendent Shelley, who made a hames of the Kerry Baby case and who was the senior negotiator for An Garda Siochana in relation to the assassination of 27 yr old John Carty by an Gardai. John Carty was bipolar. His Mother asked for help; they came and shot her son (dead). I now ask Michael McDowell to explain the word Criminality to me...
Sorry, I nearly forgot about Bertie. I wonder has he heard the cuckoo on his holiday this week!
My mind boggles.....but hold on .... he is with Miss Boggle, the widow from Raheny. He promised her husband that he would take care of her........and boys you all know Bertie breaks his promise.
In the meantime Ray Burke is on his holidays and Bertie is definitely on his mind and he too is boggled. Now you see we are back to the late 1960's where Burke did a deal with the oil companies in the west of Ireland. Now I hope all of you out there is boggled tonight.
Before I go do you notice all the 'B's'. Bertie, Burke, Boggle; Bird, Banks; 'Bobbies' and then what about words like bribery!!!
A quiz question for someone out there?
Name the lady who organised two Turkey and Ham parties for Minister Martin Cullen and she received a mere euros 300,000 from us idiots out there. Yes. you got it right. Mr. B. for Bleach.
Before I go, should Charlie Haughey receive the Nobel prize for having the 'balls' in telling the country for 25 years 'I am untouchable'. Now he also said - McDowell is the nastiest piece of work that ever entered the Dail. I am looking at Jack Russell and his mind is boggled......
Goodnight

Corruption needs to seriously be addressed. We have Corporate Governance courses running at UCD. Efforts are likewise made by the Institute of Directors, Transparency International and others.
However, to change the attitudes in Ireland to a more social, ethical, environmental orientated approach is a task that will involve root and branch work at all levels i.e. Church, Government, Corporate business, Universities, and the other blackmarket punter who is beyond the auspices of what Ethics is about, by now.
Sounds cynical but inspite of the witch-hunt for those who failed to make proper returns in the 1970's/80's/90/s, I would like to know that level of corruption that presently exists and how we intend to change same.
