Is this an endorsement that people should NOT help the police?
coz it doesn't work that way.
Today Police in Leeds northern england have carried out a controlled explosion.
"yet to confirm the nature of the threat".

Meanwhile the police in yorkshire moved on from their controlled explosion the other day to swoop! on the muslim communties of west yorkshire.
Today a "coffeepot bomb" exploded in the doorway to the italian institute in Barcelona killing a police dog and injuring a member of the bomb squad. the coffeepot is thought to mean something. Mr Lavazza's fans. thus though "police though not confirming the threat" people say, oh its them, the antisystem italian anarkrusts.
And then just to show us how expert they are, ETA attacked one of the primary electricity supply stations in the basque region with four bombs, no injuries, lots of warnings in the accepted places with the right code words.
(both incidents in catalonia & basque in english here-)

some would call these "copy cat" actions.
and others would call it "hey look this is how you do it"
others would correctly see this as the ripple effects of modern imitative terrorism in the XXI century.
Others will see no connection between these events and still focus on counting car bomb attempts in Bagdhad.
At 0500 BST on Sunday bomb disposal experts declared that a suspect package at the Travelodge hotel on Broad Street was not a "credible device".
Police carried out four controlled explosions on a bus in Corporation Street, in the city centre.
The areas cordoned off included the Broad Street entertainment district and the city's Chinese quarter which are crowded with bars, theatres, restaurants, flats and hotels.
20,000 people were effected. Police appealed for "stragglers" to go home and assist them in the evacuation but many *didn't*.
"The threat that we responded to was very specific,"
"It was specific about the time and also the locations." it was a credible threat", West Midlands Chief Constable Paul Scott Lee.
Several hundred who could not make it home were housed in Aston University for the night.
"Earlier today, the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, promised that his government will act with caution in the wake of the bombings and will not introduce authoritarian laws in response to them.
In a BBC Radio interview, Mr Blair also said the world would have to deal with the underlying causes of terrorism and that security alone could not provide complete protection."
