Keir Starmer?s Anti-Israel Policies Are Now No Different to Jeremy Corbyn?s Tue Jul 30, 2024 13:00 | Will Jones
Unlike Jeremy Corbyn, Keir Starmer has never described Hezbollah as his friends. But other than that, when it comes to Israel there is now little of consequence to differentiate them, says Stephen Pollard.

Is the Muslim Vote Abandoning Labour? Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:00 | Frank Haviland
Is the 'Muslim vote' set to abandon Labour? With three quarters of British Muslims refusing to believe Hamas committed atrocities on October 7th, it's hard to see how Labour can retain them, says Frank Haviland.

Bridget Phillipson is wrong about the Higher Education Freedom of Speech Act she has just torpedoed, says Oxford law academic Dr Julius Grower. It won't increase legal action for universities but will ease it.

No, Ed Miliband Does Not Have a ?Mandate? for His Net Zero Lunacy Tue Jul 30, 2024 07:00 | Ben Pile
With swivel-eyed zeal, Ed Miliband has been telling broadcasters he has a "mandate" to deliver his unworkable and unaffordable Net Zero agenda. Not when just 20% of the public voted for you, says Ben Pile.

Jump To Comment: 5 4 3 2 1These five men are not in contempt . They are all that there is standing between their families saftey and Shell/Statoil's pursuit of wealth. Natural justice would allow these men to interveen in the construction of an apparatus which could threaten their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Thats the obvious bit.
Furthermore,It is impossible to knowingly disobey an order even if only later proven to be invalid, if it took the judge a while to figure this one out for himself thats his problem.
I think these men should hold the judge in contempt of their rights to be 'secure in their person' under the constitution.
I respect these men for their refusing to humble themselves before this judge and the courts which corruptly denies them their liberty, for standing up for their families welfare.
And about time too. It was a fantastic show to watch. It is true that the jailed men were not discussed, but the show was to be about the gas project as a whole and I think it was the right way to go about it. Pyle would of course say it is the men that are keeping themselves in jail and has nothing to do with them. They can not purge their contempt while the injunction stands and it stands at the behest of Shell.
However, I found Pyle and Dempsey to be shaky at best. Does Pyle really think we care if they threaten us with their complete withdrawal? Does he really think we believe that Shell/Statoil/Marathon will leave all that gas and oil for someone else? I think not Mr Pyle!!! And even if they do.... at what loss to the Irish? No Loss At All.
The campaign continues and grows every day. The Rossport 5, what can I say, we all owe them so much.
Shell, Glan Amuigh nó Glan Amach!!
The families of the Rossport 5 did indeed turn their backs on the crew of Prime Time outside the Mayo Council Offices this Wednesday. It is true that we have felt very let down by the Government - sorry, National- media, and were not going to allow editing to contort the truth. However, I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone after last nights Prime Time.
It may be too early to say that they are redeemed in the eyes of the people of Erris, but they are certainly on the right path.
Mark Garavan was, as usual, calm yet passionate as Pyle squirmed in his seat. Dempsey was blithering. I was smiling!!
Dempsey was full of waffle as usual. Absolutely nothing new there. Pyle was livid, like a bull ready to explode. Garavan was cool and collected. Fair play to primetime for redeeming some of RTE'S faltering reputation on at least trying to tackle this mammoth issue.
Anyway, the campaign will intensify no doubt and we won't be conned by Shell's new found conscience.
