Good to see many of the old faces returning to the blanket over the last while, and welcome to the new ones.

I love 'The Blanket' as it continuously exposes the lies of the present day Sinn Fein leadership.
Keep up the good word folks!

The current issue of the Blanket also has an excellent article by Queens-based Cork Republican, Patrick Hurley, on the dangers posed to the cultural fabric of the U.S. by unrestricted Hispanic immigration. He poses the question how would the Irish like Amhrann na bhFiann to be sung in Spanish. He points out that the powers that be welcome Irish immigrants to the U.S. because they more easily assimilate. He castigates the Irish Immigration lobby group for aligning themselves with the Hispanic undesireables, thus damaging hopes for amnesty for Irish illegals in the U.S..Mr. Hurley praises Gerry Adams' friend, Congressman Peter King, for his stand against the cultural mongrelization of the U.S. The Blanket is to be praised for printing the Danish cartoons and for airing Mr. Hurley's plea to preserve the Anglo-Saxon culture of the United States. Mr. Hurley is a true son of Skibereen.

Why does the Blanket continue to censor Eamonn McCann? Eamonn told us they refused to carry his articles because of his membership of our party. shame on you.

Eamon McCann attempted to censor The Blanket's publication of the Danish cartoons by demanding that the Blanket remove all of his articles (which they refused to do). If that was what Eamon told you (which I highly doubt) then he was lying. See the link for his own statement.

Personally I think you are just shit-stirring.

I presume they are shit stirring - indeed when in the SWP and back when the Blanket was just getting going I was 'told not to write either for the Blanket or on Indy media, - 'attempted censorship indeed, but not from the Blanket, of which I was having none of it.

For oneself, and my personal opinion {specifically on the Blanket} is that whatever problems E McCann and the other writer had with the Blanket {athough three said they where no longer going to write for the Blanket - one of them had in fact had never written spefically for the Blanket} - - I believe they made the wrong decision to leave it. If one indeed had thought that the Blanket was moving to the right or whatever disagreements one had, my opinion has always been that within such campaigns or whatever, to then get into the heart of it and attempt to effect change rather than simply walking away.

Indeed,

more especially the case when you know that good and progressive activists and writers are involved, this within whatever campaign or project, and so the said issue can be moved forward with great and growing success.

For those interested

I am presently finishing of part 6th {I think} of my Blanket West Belfast series, which I know many like, and the Blanket will be my primary avenue also for detailed analysis as well as some 'West Belfast and activist moments recorded - this for many years to come - while of course on Indymedia.

BTW starting back to college and Uni this term, as an ‘OLD 35 year old, who knows may even relive my youthful days of occupation!
