If anyone deserves reparations, it's the poor BBC licence-fee-paying public, white and otherwise, who've funded Lenny Henry's alleged comedy career and racial grift for decades, argues Steven Tucker.

Promotion by The Niall Largey Memorial Fund

Niall Largey died in Belfast a few years ago at the age of 27 as a result of motor neurone disease. A fund has been set up in his memory.

The entrance fee (including supper) was €5. Music was provided by Mickey McArdle on solo guitar with "Nuala" on vocals. The night was warm and humid, the door of the venue in The Strand Hotel, Omeath, remained open all night and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Tickets for the raffle were €5 for a "line" of 5 tickets.

The buffet supper, served off the function room, offered knife and fork, flaky savoury pastries, chicken goujons, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, chips, creamed cauliflower, salad, and a selection of cold sauces which were all sweet, red and hot.

The second annual social in aid of the Niall Largey memorial fund took place in The Strand Hotel, Omeath, Co Louth, on Saturday 25 August 2007. Performance, music, dancing, an excellent raffle, and a delicious buffet supper. The star item on the menu in my opinion was the savoury chicken and broccoli pie (I had a second helping). Admission €5. The total sum raised was €2 580 and the money goes towards research into motor neurone disease. A great night!
