Rishi Sunak has once again been dropping hints about leaving the European Convention on Human Rights. This is not credible, says Dr David McGrogan: such a feat would require a Government far more serious than this one.

Rossport Solidarity Camp Support - Public Meeting, Ennis.

category clare | environment | event notice author Saturday September 02, 2006 00:47author by Niall Harnett - Clare Shell to Sea / Rossport Solidarity Camp / Gluaiseachtauthor email clare at shelltosea dot comauthor phone 086 8444966 Report this post to the editors

Thursday 7th Sept at 8pm - Upstairs, Brandon's Pub, O'Connell St, Ennis, Co Clare.

The Rossport Solidarity Camp will not be taken down this winter. It's up to stay. In fact, work is under way to improve the camp infrastructure and make it stronger ... strong enough to face the oncoming winter on one of the most exposed and windswept coasts in Europe.

For those of us who are unable to make the sort of sacrifice that those who live and work on the camp have made, this meeting is an opportunity for us to discuss, plan and organise ways in which we can support them from home. It's not just a meeting for Clare people - if you feel you have something to offer, please come no matter where you are or where you're heading.

THE MEETING.

- 20-30 minutes of short films about the camp and the ongoing Shell to Sea campaign.

- Brief update on the current situation in Erris in light of recent 'independent' reports and recommendations.

- Brief discussion on Shell’s and their government partners' plans for the future, Shell to Sea’s plans to resist them, the why’s and the wherefore’s, specifically with regard to the role of the Rossport Solidarity Camp in supporting the local campaign.

- Discussion and plans on how we in Clare, and nearby counties, can support the campaign from here, specifically with regard to practically supporting the Rossport Solidarity Camp in terms of bodies, materials, logistics, skills, fundraising, meetings, publicity etc.

We're also looking for a storage space or shed in Ennis where we can come and go to drop off and collect materials for transportation to the camp. If you can offer this, please come to the meeting or contact me, details above.

Come and be a part of an inspiring campaign.
