Sinn Fein Rally in Belfast

Sinn Fein prepare for crucial talks with British government with major rally in Belfast

Tomorrow, Wednesday 11 October, Sinn Féin's Dublin Mid-West representative, Joanne Spain will travel to Scotland with the party's negotiating team for crucial talks aimed at restoring the power-sharing institutions in the North and securing the full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. Speaking before chairing a Sinn Féin rally in Belfast this evening in advance of the talks, Spain said that the time for artificial roadblocks to progress is over.

She said:

"The DUP this week has an historic opportunity to put progress and equality before triumphalism and sectarianism, but if unionist politicians persist in their intransigence they can no longer be allowed a veto on progress, The governments, particularly the British Government, have a duty to implement the outstanding areas of the Agreement.
"Whatever is the outcome of this phase of negotiations, we are not going away. My generation has grown up with the peace process but we also know that 25 years ago, republicans in Long Kesh engaged in a life and death struggle rather than be labeled criminals.
"We are very conscious of that continuity of struggle and we will not rest until we have achieved the Ireland envisioned by Tone, Connolly and Sands, a vision that inspires our generation as it has every generation before us.
"Our objective today, like theirs, is the liberation of all our people and our duty today is to play whatever part we have to the best of our ability.

Ask the SF members in Dublin Mid-West about Joanne Spain. She is despised by them and is seen as epitomising the levels to which New SF has sunk in its quest for optics over substance. She is almost never in the constituency, although she does intend to someday to come and visit it in her limousine after she is elected!! (as she herself stated at a public meeting in the Polly Hops pub in Newcastle, Co. Dublin). I see she never actually made it into the negotiating room at St. Andrew's. I wonder if the tokenistic gender related nature of her existence as 'somebody' in New SF will ever dawn on her. Hopefully the working people of Dublin Mid-West will realise her for what she is before they fall for the con New SF is going to attempt to pull on them.

Would Sinn Fein please stop the stomach-churning use of our Patriot Dead as a smoke screen for their dismantlement of Republicanism and the wholesale surrender to Paisley and the bigots under which they are eager to serve in a 6 county British State?

Adams and McGuinness stand naked before the triumphant DUP having been stripped of every vestige of their former Republicanism [ If it ever existed that is? ] and like Dickens's Oliver Twist they hold the plate out for at least some crumbs of respectability.

Tone, Connolly and Sands didn't die for this shameless grovelling at the feet of our ancient enemies.
It is a disgraceful insult to their sacrifices and memories.
