Well done to TG4 for breaking Media Silence
A documentary by film-maker Brian Grey was broadcast last night on TG4 at 9.30, The Film followed the course of peace activist Mary Kelly, while most media went into silent mode for the fifth anniversary of the Invasion Of Iraq.
Mary Kelly, for those who dont know damaged, or in her words 'disarmed' a US Military plane in Shannon with an axe, and was charged with tresspass and astonishingly 'criminal damage'
The mainstream-RTE, dosent want you to know the facts about our governments disgusting recent history. But at least, this station-TG4, which gets none of the TV licence fee to pay hush money to Kenny, Ryan, Turbidy etc...broke this silence to some degree, by showing a documentary about Irish involvment in the attrocity that Iraq has become.
What seemed obvious in the film was Kellys misfortune to have gotten support from John Gormley and Trevor Seargent who now have joined the government in coalition by reneaging on the promises they were elected on-at least in part.
Coupled with the words of the author of the book 'The Widows Of Baghdad' that five years on, there are 1,200,000 dead, 500,000 widowed and 5,000,000 orphans in the wake of this proclaimed 'success', and this should be 'an example' to the rest of the middle east....one should wonder at the absurdity of our Government trying this woman three times in court for attempting to prevent this Genocide and this nations participation in the attrocity.
