Mark Zuckerberg's repudiation of Covid-era censorship is welcome. But it's not enough, say Josh Stylman and Jeffrey Tucker. Without a public reckoning they will just do it all again when a cause seems urgent enough.

Military Situation in Ireland 'Far from Normal' - RSF

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Monday December 08, 2008 16:53author by Richard Walsh - Republican Sinn Féinauthor email tiocfaidh at btinternet dot comauthor phone +44-7835 620 592 / +353-87 261 8603 Report this post to the editors

The credibility of a recent announcement of a 'reduction' in British Crown Forces' personnel from January has been called into question by Republican Sinn Féin.

It has been revealed that the so-called “reduction” of British military personnel in the Six Occupied Counties to their “final” level (i.e. until reinforcements are required) in January will only see the departure of thirty Crown personnel. Up to 5,000 British troops will remain permanently garrisoned within the statelet.

The fact that these will continue to be used to deal with bomb disposal activities gives the lie to the claim that the RUC are now able to control the area themselves. The outgoing chief Brit, Chris Browne, openly admits that “there is no suggestion that the PSNI (sic) have the resources or the desire to create a bomb disposal unit.”

A spokesperson for Republican Sinn Féin said “doubtless the Provos will be quick to claim this as a victory, when in reality the status quo is to remain indefinitely.

“Recent admissions by Hugh Orde that his force are unable to patrol the streets as they please because of the ever resurgent military opposition to English rule shows that the military situation in Ireland is far from 'normal'.

“The only normal number of British soldiers in our country is none. Brown admits that 'this is not a withdrawal,' but a full British withdrawal remains the Republican demand.”

ENDS

What was the war about all these years?

The aims of the Provisional IRA campaign was the end of British rule in Ireland:

(1) The end of a gerrymandering and the end of Stormont.
(2) The end of British military and police presence in Ireland.
(3) The end of unionism and loyalism.
(4) The end of partition.
(5) The end of the "Free State."
(6) The establishment of a 32-County Irish Socialist Republic.

The result:

(1) Republicans are fully participating in Stormont.
(2) British military and police are still in control.
(3) Unionism and loyalism are still the majority in the six counties.
(4) The abolishment of articles 2 & 3 of the Irish constitution means the copperfastening of partition.
(5) The "Free State" Republic of Ireland is remains in existence.
(6) North and South of the border socialism has been smothered by mainstream bourgeoise political parties.

The "armed struggle" was a total failure.

Other points:

1. The Constitution of Irish Republic now recognizes Northern Ireland as an integral part of the U.K...southern politicians now even refer to Armagh as part of a foreign country. ("Shop at home" etc. etc..)

2. This is a direct result of Provo actions over the years.

3. Ian Paisley's party now rules Northern Ireland.

4. The Union Jack now flies over Stormont more securely than it has ever done in the history of Ireland.

4. Thousands were murdered to achieve the above.....so called "victory".

Check out this shamelessly pro-Brit anti-IRA movie from 1992 which was another one of Ford's "whataboutmywifeandmyfamily" movies.

We're having really bad problems with our economy.
We're having really bad problems with our education.
We're having really bad problems with our health service. And our transport system. And gun crime etc.

How on earth would a State like ours take on a further 1.8 million people? I'm being serious here. Post a link to 'the Great Plan' of integration.

Apparently there are still some Jews living in Europe as well.
