People Before Profit Alliance

Launch of Local Elections Campaign Thursday May 7th 2009

Press Conference at 1.15pm Unite Hall (Formerly ATGWU) Middle Abbey St, Dublin 1.

The People Before Profit Alliance will be launching its Local Election Campaign on Thursday May 7th.

The Alliance is running 13 candidates in Dublin, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, and Waterford, Tralee and Dundalk.

Candidates include sitting Councillor Joan Collins in Dublin City, and Richard Boyd Barrett in Dun Laoghaire.

The Alliance will be calling on the electorate to use the election to protest at the policies of the government which favour speculators and bankers over workers, the unemployed and the poor. The Alliance will be calling on the electorate to support all candidates who want to build a genuine radical political alternative.

The Alliance will be campaigning against local charges and for increasing local democracy. All our candidates are committed to holding regular local meetings to inform the electorate of developments on the councils and to seek their views.
