Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Cork Shell to Sea Stall Today on Patrick St.

category cork | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Saturday May 09, 2009 19:37author by Ray - Cork Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

Leaflet distro to coincide with action call-out for Glengad today.

A very brief report on Cork S2S members distributing leaflets and raising awareness of the current situation in Erris today on Patrick St.
Banner on Patrick St. today during leaflet distro.
Banner on Patrick St. today during leaflet distro.

For several hours this morning/lunchtime four Cork Shell to Sea members (including this correspondent) distributed information leaflets to the passing shoppers and other citizens. We put up the banner pictured, and to those with whom we talked at length we brought up current events in Mayo, especially the actions that will happen tonight at Glengad. We noticed that even though there were not as many on the street as with previous years, but those we encountered today were receptive to the Shell to Sea message. We hope that this will the first of many info. stalls and leaflet distros this summer.

Cork Shell to Sea also wishes all participants in tonight's actions at Glengad all the best as they rip down Shell's illegal fences, and we hope we'll wake up to news of spectacular fence-down success Sunday morning!

Fair play; much work needs to be done to counter the Authorised Version of events to do with Irish resources that the big media give out, in their own interests, of course! Best wishes for all Shell to Sea information-giving & actions.

Certainly people need to be reminded of the real issues behind the headlines; they have a lot of daily concerns to focus on. You could try asking people, Do they remember why The Rossport Five were put in gaol?
