Briefing for left No to Lisbon Activists

category dublin | eu | event notice author Wednesday July 15, 2009 17:21author by Michael O'Brien - Socialist Party Report this post to the editors

Preparation for 2 Oct referendum!

Speaker: Barry Finnegan (Researcher for Campaign Against the EU Constitution)
Date: Thursday 23rd July
Time: 8:00pm
Place: Kilnamanagh Community Centre, Tallaght
More Info telephone 086 1688050

The period up to the second Lisbon referendum on 2nd October will be one of intense campaigning and debates. Now is the time for left and progressive opponents of this treaty to prepare their lines of arguement that we will present to the wider public in the months ahead.

Barry Finnegan, one of the formost authorities on the content of the treaty, will explain the true status of the so-called concessions this government has claimed to have obtained. Barry will retrace to the core issues in the unchaged treaty concerning left opponents including public services, workers rights, militarism, the environment and the rolling back of democratic rights.

This meeting is organised by the Tallaght branch of the Socialist Party but is open to all who want to be informed about the Lisbon treaty with a view to bringing the No arguements to friends, neighbours, workmates, fellow students etc
