Belfast workers support jailed Thomas Cook workers
Picket outside Thomas Cook, Donegall Sq West, Belfast 1pm Tuesday 4 August
This morning at 5am a unit of Gardai physically removed and arrested 28 workers from Thomas Cook Grafton St store in Dublin and are due to appear in the High Court later today.
Socialist Party spokesperson Gary Mulcahy stated “We have called this picket today to protest in the strongest terms against the disgraceful physical eviction and arrest of workers from peacefully occupying their place of work.
It is a scandal that workers are being jailed when the rich bankers and speculators who caused the recession get bailed-out and continue to make big profits and receive huge bonuses.
We are calling on people in Belfast to show solidarity with their fellow workers and come down to Thomas Cook on Donegall Square West today at lunchtime to express their solidarity with these workers”
