Celebrating the Lives of those lost to suicide

Remembrance Services for World Suicide Prevention Day

The statistics for suicide in Ireland tell us that an average of ten people every week make the decision to end their own lives. But what the statistics can never measure is the impact those 500-plus deaths has on the families, friends and communities bereaved by suicide.

Every person who overrides their natural instinct for survival leaves behind a network of sad, confused and often angry people. To help ease that pain and to celebrate the lives of those lost to suicide, Turning the Tide of Suicide (3Ts) runs a simple candlelight ceremony to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day every year.

3T's is a registered charity founded to raise awareness of the problem of suicide in Ireland and to raise funds to help lower suicide rates through dedicated research, educational support and intervention.

The West of Ireland Candlelight Remembrance Service will take place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway on Friday September 11th at 8pm. This evening has proved to be a very healing and comforting experience for all who attended in the past.

Admission is free and refreshments are served after the ceremony.
