Up to half of excess deaths in American nursing homes were due to the impact of lockdowns and mitigation measures on frail residents rather than the virus, according to new analysis.

The great Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume would have some things to teach today's woke activists, says Prof James Allan: about a mind-independent reality that has no truck with claims of 'my truth'.

It's been a wet winter and this is bad news for farmers, says Ben Pile. But with agricultural yields increasing sharply over recent decades, there's no reason to link it to climate change or start catostrophising about it.

Chris Packham has hit back at claims made on GB News that half the world's population could die under Net Zero. But that seems like a fair estimate of the catastrophic harm of deindustrialisation, says Chris Morrison.

Scéalaíocht le Máirín MhicLochlainn i gClub Áras na nGael, Gaillimh

category galway | arts and media | event notice author Wednesday November 04, 2009 12:48author by Coilín "The" Oh-Aissieux - Narrative Arts Club Report this post to the editors

Seo deis do mhuintir na Gaillimhe roinnt seanscéalta gaelacha a chloisteáil ó bhean a fuair ón mbéaloideas iad.

Scéalaíocht le Máirín MhicLochlainn
Club Áras na nGael, 45 Sráid Doiminic, Gaillimh
7 Samhain 2009
2.00 - 4.00 iarnóin

Mairfidh an scéalaíocht féin timpeall uair an chloig, ach glacfaidh Máirín sos nó dhó, agus beidh deis ag an lucht éisteachta comhrá a dhéanamh léi mar gheall ar an scéalaíocht ag an deireadh. Mar sin, timpeall dhá uair a mhairfidh an seisiún iomlán.

An uair seo, beidh Máirín ag cur tús le sraith seisiún scéalaíochta ina n-inseoidh sí na Scéalta Fiannaíochta atá aici óna h-athair. Mac Rí na Binne an chéad cheann acu.

Leanfaidh an tsraith ar aghaidh ar na dátaí seo a leanas: 21 Samhain, 5 Nollaig, 19 Nollaig.

Fáilte roimh chách. Saorchead isteach.

Beidh seisiún scéalaíochta le Máirín Mhic Lochlainn ar siúl i gClub Áras na nGael ... ar an Satharn, 7 Samhain 2009 ón 2.00 - 5.00in, agus beidh seisiún cheoil thraidisiúnta le Dusty Banjos níos déanaí an oíche chéanna.
...
Seo mar a chuireann Máirín Mhic Lochlainn síos ar a cuid scéalaíochta: "Maidir leis an scéalaíocht, fuair mé mar atá a fhios agat ó mo athair Beartla Ó Maoileoin, nó Beairtlín Rua iad. Fuair seisean a chuid scéalta ag cuairtíocht ar oícheanta airneáin i dteach seanfhir a mhair leis féin, Maitíos a' Búrca an t-ainm a bhí air, agus bhí cónaí air i mBaile an tSléibhe i Ros a' Mhíl. Bhíodh buachaillí an bhaile cruinnithe isteach sa teach aige, agus é ag inseacht scéalta dóibh. Is ó a bheith ag oíche airneáin a fuair seisean a chuid scéalta é fhéin."

An oíche sin beidh seisiún breá, bhríomhar leis na Dusty Banjos. Is ceol traidisiúnta a sheinneann an banna le meascán ceoltóirí ag gach aon seisiún. Dá bharr seo, d'fhéadfá a rá gur Club Áras na nGael ceann de na hionaid is fearr do sheisiún traidisiúnta. Bunaíodh an seisiúin seo do mhic léinn le uirlisí traidisiúnta i 2002. Ó ham go chéile bíonn luas níos moille leis an seisiún ná seisiúin eile a thugann deis do na daoine atá cúthail nó nach bhfuil in ann luas tapaidh a choinneáil. Dá rá sin bíonn seisiúin breá bríomhar ann chomh maith. Is seisiún oscailte é seo agus tá fáilte roimh cheoltóirí, éisteoirí agus damhsóirí.

Casann Dusty Banjos i gClub Áras na nGael ar an gcéad Shatharn de gach mí agus beidh an chéad seisiún eile ar siúl ar an Satharn 7 Samhain 2009 ag 10.00 in le saorchead isteach. Fáilte roimh chách!
