In his latest column for the New Statesman, John Pilger asks: Why are so many films so bad? This year’s Oscar nominations are a parade of propaganda, stereotypes and downright dishonesty. It's interesting what you say about Palestinian Authority control of the Popular Committee in Bilin as it collaborates - if that's the right word in the present context - the story of an activist friend of mine in the West Bank who journeyed to Tulkarem on the 30th of December last to participate in a solidarity march for Gaza but which was suppressed by the PA mayor of that city without demur from the Tulkarem Popular Committee.
Essentially we are talking about a Vichy style regime whose ‘policies’ are guided by Washington and Tel Aviv, but then what have any of the Arab regimes ever done to assist the Palestinian people? Mubarak is building a wall; Abdullah is (like his father and grandfather) working closely with the Zionists and Washington. The UAE are concentrating on making money and many of them have provided secret prisons for ‘extraordinary rendition’.
