It isn't so much that the Tories are getting more popular as that Labour is getting less so. Which illustrates a more general predicament for the Tories and any other party that might have aspirations to government.

Right To Work protest at Daíl 25th May 2010

category dublin | worker & community struggles and protests | news report author Monday May 31, 2010 09:32author by Trade Union TV Report this post to the editors

Video report from May 25th Right To Work rally at the Daíl.

Last Tuesday the Right To Work Campaign held their third protest in a row, at the Daíl. While bright and sunny, number were down a bit on previous weeks. Sinn Feín, People Before Profit, Labour, SWP, Socialist party were all there and importantly the continuing support of Unite the Union with Jimmy Kelly the Irish Regional Secretary speaking. The 'Anti-Capitalist' bloc marched down from the Wolf Tone corner of Stephen's Green to join everyone else who were equally angry by the bail out of the banks and the cuts to services and lack of focus on job creation.

The assembled large crowd left in unison and marched to Dublin Castle and dispersed.

The Right To Work campaign have called for another protest on June 1st.

There was about 300 - 400 people on the RTW protest last night. Numbers seriously down on previous weeks. This puts a serious question mark over the future of this campaign, I doubt it has much life left in it, people are just not responding to the idea of protest. No sign yet of any activities to do with unemployment yet either.
