SIPTU President nominated Business Person of the Month by Business and Finance Magazine

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | other press author Wednesday June 09, 2010 12:52author by Kerry Worker - Kerry Public Service Workers' Alliance Report this post to the editors

Union leader is the toast of the business class

Jack O'Connor, general president of SIPTU and president of ICTU, nominated Business Person of the Month by the latest issue of the Irish monthly Business and Finance Magazine for his management of union members' anger and railroading of the Croke Park proposals.

Congratulations to Jack O'Connor, general president of SIPTU and president of ICTU, on his nomination as Business Person of the Month by the latest issue of the Irish monthly Business and Finance Magazine.

Lauded for his cave-in on the Croke Park proposals and seeking to block industrial action, Mr O'Connor is highly recommended by the Magazine for "realising the damage that further disruption could cause to Ireland's reputation abroad."

Jack is in very good company, as previous winners of this coveted title include Brian Lenihan (Minister for Finance), Patrick Kennedy (Paddy Power), Aidan Heavey (Tullow Oil), Jim Barry (NTR) and Jim O'Hara (Intel).

Could this be a first for a union leader?
