Public Session of the IPSC Annual General Meeting 2010

The public session of the IPSC this year will concentrate on the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions victories that the global BDS movement has scored recently, and will discuss how best to move this campaign forward, locally and globally.

The meeting will take place on Saturday 19th June 2010, at 3pm in The Teachers’ Club, 36 Parnell Square, Dublin 1. It is open to the public.

Speakers

Mick Napier, Chair of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign
Kamel Hawwash, Vice-Chair of the English Palestine Solidarity Campaign
Incoming IPSC Chairperson

While this meeting was planned months ago, the Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla which left at least 9 people dead, has given added impetus to the subject, as Israel finds itself at the receiving end of a tide of increased BDS actions. The IPSC encourages all those who want to take practical action to end Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians people - and now their international supporters – to attend this session and get involved in the BDS campaign in Ireland.

About the speakers

Mick Napier is Chairperson of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign. He first visited Palestine during the First Intifada, and founded the SPSC at the beginning of the second. He was a prime mover behind the publication of the Cairo Declaration earlier this year, and the SPSC has been at the forefront of BDS in Britain over the past five years.

Kamel Hawwash is a British Palestinian Academic from Jerusalem working at the University of Birmingham. He is the Vice Chair of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign; Chair of the Birmingham Ramallah Twinning Initiative; Chair of the Britian-Palestine Twinning Network and a member of the Board of trustees of Friends of Birzeit University.
