Catholic professor of history at Vienna University, Friedrich Heer, admitted: “In the cold facts of German history, the Cross and the swastika came ever closer together, until the swastika proclaimed the message of victory from the towers of German cathedrals, swastika flags appeared round altars and Catholic and Protestant theologians, pastors, churchmen and statesmen welcomed the alliance with Hitler.”

Yugoslavia

After the war (WWII), Tito begun to settle the score with the Ustaša, which meant with the Catholic Church as well because of the close relations between the two.

Partisans of Tito retaliated against both the Catholic priests and the clergy for their collaboration with the Ustaše.

Bishop Gregorij Rožman of Ljubljana was the first bishop tried for war crimes in Yugoslavia, in absentia in August 1946.

Archbishop Aloysius Stepinac was indicted on the charges of supporting the Ustaše government, urging forced conversions of Orthodox Serbs, and encouraging Ustaše resistance in Yugoslavia.

Stepinac was found guilty and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. He served 5 years in the Lepoglava prison before the sentence was commuted to home arrest.

Proving the the Vatican was behind the Nazi's, Pius XII elevated Stepinac to the cardinalate in 1952.

‘WAR PRAYER’ FOR REICH
Catholic Bishops at Fulda Ask Blessing and Victory
FULDA, Germany, Dec. 6
The Conference of German Catholic Bishops assembled in Fulda has recommended the introduction of a special “war prayer” which is to be read at the beginning and end of all divine services.
The prayer implores Providence to bless German arms with victory and grant protection to the lives and health of all soldiers. The Bishops further instructed Catholic clergy to keep and remember in a special Sunday sermon at least once a month German soldiers ‘on land, on sea and in the air.”

The Concordat between the Vatican and the Nazis

Cardinal Secretary of State, Eugenio Pacelli (later to become Pope Pius XII) signs the Concordat between Nazi Germany and the Vatican at a formal ceremony in Rome on 20 July 1933. Nazi Vice-Chancellor Franz von Papen sat on the left, Pacelli in the middle, and the Rudolf Buttmann on the right.

The Concordat effectively legitimized Hitler and the Nazi government to the eyes of Catholicism, Christianity, and the world.

AND HITLER SAID

Adolf Hitler: National Socialism is Not Hostile to Religion
The fact that the Vatican is concluding a treaty with the new Germany means the acknowledgment of the National Socialist state by the Catholic Church. This treaty shows the whole world clearly and unequivocally that the assertion that National Socialism is hostile to religion is a lie.

- Adolf Hitler, speech to members of the Nazi Party on the Nazi-Vatican Concordant, July 22, 1933

AND

Adolf Hitler: Human World Inconceivable Without Religious Belief
This human world of ours would be inconceivable without the practical existence of a religious belief. The great masses of a nation are not composed of philosophers. For the masses of the people, especially faith is absolutely the only basis of a moral outlook on life. The various substitutes that have been offered have not shown any results that might warrant us in thinking that they might usefully replace the existing denominations. ...There may be a few hundreds of thousands of superior men who can live wisely and intelligently without depending on the general standards that prevail in everyday life, but the millions of others cannot do so.

- Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Vol. 1 Chapter 10

lets have a political debate, about the pope visit to England. hopefully we can stay away from sectarianism. in all shape forms.
in England over 8 million people unemployed. according to the media. this state visit is too cost over 20 million. why the hell should English taxpayers have to pay. isn't the queen/parasite the head of the Anglican church. the richest woman on planet earth. if this dysfunctional political family wants to give the pope a state visit, let them pay for it.
we only have to look at the political role of interference by the vatican, of the 1980s. of the democratic elected government of Nicaragua. Sandanistas, by the Polish office of pope John Paul 11. its collusion of murder of political community activists. carried out by right wing fascist death squads. financed by the American Government of Ronald Reagan. we can look at its treatment of Catholic theologians, inspired by liberation theology
imagine what could be done to alleviate poverty, which many women children experience, the Financial assets of the vatican was to be taken from them. no doubt we would be told the poor , we will always have with us. their reward will be met when they reach heaven. weeping Madonnas, moving statues how are you. building airports.
we can look at political inference, excertion of the vatican to the office of English home secretary. Jack Straw. which asked England not to co-operate with Spains request of the extradition of fastcist murder of Pinochet. while Margaret Thatcher gave him comfort
let us address the area of vatican denial of justice. towards people who are survivors of child sex abuse. under the offices of pope Jonh Paul 11. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now pope Benedict 16. America/Europe. yes there will be people jumping on the bandwagon. using people who are survivors. people who are survivors, are capable of speaking for themselves and have done so.
people need to reafirm for themselves class political analysis.
yes people have a right to oppose the popes visit, to England in a non sectarian way. peacefully
political class analyais empowerment is the way forward

As an ex-catholic, a woman, and a mother, I too deeply resent the Vatican's preachings, and this current Pope seems to have set things back even further. They really should be ashamed of themselves.

However, I do respect the fact that most Catholics are honest, decent people and as such, do not deserve to have their religious beliefs disrespected. In my opinion, and in a very respectful way, I would suggest holding a full mass at the venue, delivered by women priests, who would distribute condoms to the adult congregation, and pure white flowers of some sort to the children, to honor their purity and innocence. I somehow thing that a service such as this, and as I said, in a respectful manner, might make those robed old men realise that it's not THEIR religion, it belongs to the congregation.

starting a petition to have Dave Allen canonised? He made some miraculous sketches in his time.
And think of the market in relics of the missing digit. I particularly liked his weekly valediction, 'May your god go with you '.
And I'm all for respecting people and their beliefs. But superstition needs challenging in these increasingly credulous times.
Anyone who left a legend of changing water into wine and favouring the hookers over the heirarchy of his day can't be as bad as his adherents. But the Sanhedran in Rome are a dodgy cran of cod.
Yours, respectfully,
G. O'D.
