Thursday September 23, 2010 11:27 by Brian & Gregor - 1% Network 1percentnetwork at gmail dot com
The 1% network has announced details of a ‘political walking tour’ through the affluent districts of Dublin 2 and Dublin 4. The tour, which will bring protesters through the ‘heartland of the Golden Circle’, will stop at a number of locations, including the new headquarters of Anglo Irish Bank on Burlington Road, property developer Johnny Ronan’s property on Burlington Road and IBEC headquarters on Baggot Street. The tour will assemble at the Wolfe Tone Monument on Stephens Green at 1pm on Saturday, October 9th, 2010. The 1% network is a coalition of socialist groups which has come together to oppose the cutback agenda of the government and to promote a socialist alternative to the current socio-economic system. Organisations within the coalition include éirígí, Irish Socialist Network, Seomra Spraoi and the Workers Solidarity Movement. The name of the coalition was chosen to highlight the fact that just 1% of the population control in excess of 34% of the wealth of the state. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3I heard a rumour that the walking tour will be stopping outside of the residence of one Mr Tony O'Reilly - owner of dozens of Irish newspaper titles and of the Providence oil and gas exploration company. If true it wil be interesting to see what the journalists in his many rags would have to say about it - outrage no doubt. Can anyone confirm if O'Reilly's crib will be on the tour?
Afraid you'll have to come and see CuriousGeorge. Plenty of the 1% have nice pads in that area. If you want to know just which of them we'll be visiting you'll have to come and see
Well done to the groups who are proposing to undertake a tour of the properties within the areas suggested to which it
appears the 1% are actively residing following their succesful ( quite legal ) orchestration of their' take me home country
roads ' salaries, to which we now suspect was used to invest in bricks and mortar the length & breadth of D4.
I readily recall Dublin 4s very first £1,000,000 ( million ) house which if memory serves me correctly was situated off The
Merrion Road , the house , on Shrewsbury Rd was owner / occupied by a scottish lady & for the £1 mill paid it was in dire
need of more than just a facelift and that period was circa 96 / 97 .
A small piece of advice to the organisers , go and see these wonderful properties when its past lighting up time , apart from
your good intentions you should come away hopefully in awe of their location & appearance , under the magic of electric
light ; if , on your manouveres you happen to spot a top of the range motor vehicle less than 2 years old , normally 3 to a
cobble-locked designer driveway then you are definitley NOT in D4 .
