press release
Monday October 11, 2010 00:56 by Republican Network for Unity - Republican Network for Unity
The Republican Network for Unity condemn the recent totally unwarranted harassment, intimidation and heavy handed tactics used by the RUC/PSNI towards it’s activists. Last night while being driven through Belfast, members of the RNU were followed by the RUC/PSNI. After being followed for a short while, the British paramilitaries then ordered the driver to the side of the road and forced the occupants out from the vehicle with heavy machine guns. |

Jaysus RNU, will ye stop. All this talk about the struggle in da North.
It makes all da posers talking tough about palestinian struggles look real bad.
A view from an activist in Amerikay
This is such a biased view its actually funny.
The BRITISH PARAMILITARIES are Police Officers, many of whom are from a Nationalist / Republican background. When they may carry out searches of people who are involved in terrorism it is for the public good.
Section 43 is not the old Section 44 which was totally random and therefore a breach of Human Rights. Section 43 requires those carrying out the search to believe the person being searched is a TERRORIST, so it can not be used on someone just because it suits the police, there is a reason for it. If you aren't involved in acts of terror, you won't be stopped.....simple, isn't it
"If you aren't involved in acts of terror, you won't be stopped.....simple, isn't it "
You forgot to add, " in the opinion of a policeman, with or without, tangible evidence"
If you are serious about your republicanism get with the island's problems. In fact get with the islands'(plural) problems. An Irish baton is no lighter than a Brit's. Nor should an Iraqi life be any less valuable than any Paddy's.The biggest crime I see at present is the continuing use of Shannon for the resource wars of the twenty-first century and the incorporation of the state into NATO, the neo-imperial military wing of the Euro/American extractive ekkkonomy. Start taking in the global reach of the common enemy and get out of the nationalist ghetto that keeps them laughing at your naive parochialism. Sure, there's problems up there. But not much different to Cork, Limerick or Bellmullet. I wont go into Gaza or the growing shit in that region that could see us all cursing the gombeenism of our political quislings.
As usual, as with the economic implosion, retrospection will be 20:20.
