Calling out George Soros for using his billions to bankroll open borders, woke ideology and soft-on-crime policies isn?t antisemitic ? just telling the awkward, inconvenient truth, argues Steven Tucker.

Derry students stage rally at Guildhall Square

category derry | education | news report author Wednesday December 08, 2010 21:57author by FEE Report this post to the editors

Young Derry students make a stand for education.

Reports from the secondary school student rally at Guildhall Square yesterday are excellent. The rally was intended to drum up support for a planned walkout this Friday against education cuts and to save the EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance).

From Derry:

Congratulations to all the students in Derry FEE (Free Education for Everyone) for the great Save The EMA protest in Guildhall Square yesterday.

There were between 75 and 100 people there, most of them school students, on one of the worst weather days of the year. Students from three Derry schools and from Magee campus made speeches to a very vocal and angry crowd.

The students set off on a spontaneous march after speeches were delivered by students up the middle of Shipquay Street. Many of them marched up and around the Diamond, and then all the way back down Shipquay Street again to Guildhall Square for a final speech and round of chanting.

The students will stage a walkout on Friday to resist cuts and save the EMA.
