category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Monday December 20, 2010 20:32author by Steven Bennett - Act for Palestine Report this post to the editors

Vigil outside the Israeli embassy in Dublin, 3pm-5pm Monday the 27th of December to mark the second year of the start of Operation Cast Lead.

Facebook event:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=179184402105564

Between 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009, over 1400 Palestinians were killed by Israel in a brutal and illegal attack on the Gaza Strip, destroying lives and infrastructure. Two years on, Gaza’s infrastructure has still not been repaired due to Israel’s blockade.

On September 15, 2009, a 574 page report by UN inquiry team was released, officially titled "Human Rights in Palestine and Other Occupied Arab Territories: Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict". It concluded that the Israel Defence Force committed war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity. On October 16, 2009, the UN Human Rights Council endorsed the report.

Join us, and bring family and friends, to send a clear message:
End the Siege, Free Gaza, Free Palestine, prosecute the war criminals.

..that Michael Martin could be induced to bank(scuse the foul language)a little political-credential capital by following the Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay line and recognise Palestine at '67 borders?Europe has balked. Whats our official position?

There is an Ambassador and General Delegation. Is that some sort of half-way house?Or are we ahead of the posse for once?

..some of the Cast Lead aftermath footage.

Perhaps the commemoration should be billed as 'Slaughter of the Innocents'.
Might draw them christians away from their Hollywood/Coca-Cola fest and the plaster-jesus worship, and back to the source of realpolitic that saw the Herodian dynasty scouring the country for any possible challenger to its bloodlinear hegemony. Not so different from the current racist/sectarian fear of legitimate Palestinian claims to their 'god-given' title deeds that drives their ongoing ethnic-cleansing by stealth.
Might be appropriate for the season of tinsel, turkey and NUCLEAR family self-congratulation. The Roman perversion and incorporation of a challenge to its pantheon's hegemony.
Plus ca change...??
