Labour loves to remind voters how Liz Truss 'crashed the economy', but Rachel Reeves is making the exact same mistake. She's asking the markets to lend the Government vast sums and they're telling her where to get off.

Celebrating over a decade of resistance to Shell

Calling all you bands, performers, artists, musicians, circus acrobats, puppeteers, fire jugglers, workshop facilitators (from weavers to poets to dancers to facepainters to storytellers to herbalists...)
This is your chance to support the community here in Mayo.

Since the recent successes of the film ‘The Pipe’ by Risteard Ó Domhnaill and Lorna Siggins’ book ‘Once upon a time in the West’ (Book of the year 2010) the community campaign in Erris has received a huge amount of interest. This is especially due to the fact that public services are being cut whilst the people of Ireland will receive no economic benefit from Corrib gas. Many people who trusted the government and Shell are beginning to realise that the whole project is wrong and it’s not too late to make the changes needed, both in terms of safety and the economic deal.

The June bank holiday weekend saw hundreds traveling to Erris for the Party Against the Pioe festival organised by the Rossport Solidarity Camp. The festival was held beside the Shell construction compound at Aghoose, where the tunnel for the last stage of their controversial experimental raw gas pipeline is to be started. This compound has been the site of many protests, including one earlier in the week when security punched a female Shell to Sea campaigner in the face.
