Cork's Maritime Festival 3rd - 12th June 2011

Ocean to City’s Maritime Festival, highlights Cork’s magnificent river and harbour. Festival includes markets, kayak/boat trips, racing, corcumnavigation, boats to Spike Island, photography competition, Blackrock Castle Youth Race, harbour school, tours on LE Orla and more.

The race takes place on June 4th 2011. A unique, spectacular 15 mile race for traditional and non-traditional rowing boats and kayaks which starts at Crosshaven and finishes at Lapps Quay.

The festival atmosphere features acrobats, face painters, balloon artists, workshops, clowns and music.

03 - 12 June 2011
Ocean to City, the People’s Maritime Festival, highlights the magnificent river and harbour amenity available on Cork’s doorstep. The festival programme includes markets, city kayak & boat trips & racing, corcumnavigation, boat trails to Spike Island, photography competition, Blackrock Castle Observatory Youth Race Festival, harbour school, public tours on LE Orla and much more.

The race takes place on the second day of the festival, June 4th 2011. A truly unique and spectacular 15 mile rowing race for all types of fixed seat traditional and non-traditional rowing boats and kayaks. The course starts at Crosshaven, travelling through Cork Harbour to finish on the River Lee at Lapps Quay in Cork City centre. The maritime festival features an Irish food and craft market at the finish line in Cork City.

There is lots of fun for seafarers and landlubbers alike with a festival atmosphere featuring face painters, balloon artists, kids craft workshops, clowns and music at the finish line on the Lapps Quay. Highlights of the day include a seafood event, maritime heritage exhibitions and of course the excitement of the finish line! Founded in 2005, Ocean to City – an Rás Mór is organised by Meitheal Mara, the Cork City based traditional boat-builders. Boats are available to rent for crews who are unable to bring their own craft.
