A good report on Rachel Peavoys death in her Ballymun flat can be found on the wsws :
"On April 6, Dublin city coroner Dr Brian Farrell returned a verdict of “death by misadventure” over the death of Rachel Peavoy, a 30-year-old woman who died January 11, 2010 of hypothermia in her flat in Dublin, Ireland."

I cannot believe for the life of me at the lack of OUTRAGE BY THE IRISH PEOPLE in relation to this beautiful young woman and mothers tragic but sadly avoidable death. Shame on Dublin City Council and shame on other people who may have had the money or the power to help in some small way.

Let us go back a little bit in time. The 1% elite who now have Ireland totally in financial chaos - I wonder today are they cold in their houses or has the ESB cut off the power for non payment. I doubt it very much. It is ironic that Fitzpatrick can still fly 1st class Aer Lingus and still is a Board member and yet he seems to feel indifferent in relation to what the young people and the vulnerable and the elderly are be expected to tolerate at present. Ms. Peavoy should not have died like this and I feel deeply for her family and her children - this is one of Ireland's greatest human scandals and yet the media mainstream are very silent on this and other similar tragedies.

fair play to all who made it out in the rain today to support the family of poor rachel, every case like this should be supported and fought and pushed into the media. Any description of this sort of state violence as 'misadventure' on the part of the victim is a so insulting and something I consider as a feminist to be a backlash against all single mother's who should organise en masse to push for justice for rachel.

On Monday night , Dublin City Councillors voted against a motion calling for a public enquiry into Rachel's death. All Labour councillors bar one from south Dublin voted against . Justice for Rachel campaigners feel particularly let down by Lord Mayor Andrew Montgue who up until recently lived less than a hundred meters from where Rachel died of hypothermia in her unheated flat.

On the Justice for Rachel facebook page Catherin Greene wrote yesterday :
"we went into city hall last night our third month in there , we wanted the councillors to help push for an inquiry to the dail !! but they voted against an inquiry into rachels death, only a few voted for it the ones who were totally against it was mostley fine geal and labour some councillors were very insulting the way they spoke its more a cover up they dont want this out !!"
