Monday 22nd February, 2016 – Ahead of the 12th round of TTIP negotiations, 280 civil society organisations from across Europe, with the support of US and Canadian groups, have called on the European Commission and the United States Trade Representative to eliminate the Investor State Dispute Mechanism (ISDS) and its so-called replacement, the Investor Court System (ICS), from the TTIP, CETA and all other trade agreements. We are reproducing this article which is based on a report from London Evening Standard where the Russiam ambassador to UK reveals the Russians were told by the Western powers back in early summer of 2015 that after the US proclaimed a no-fly zone ISIS would capture Damascus by October 2015. The importance of this article and revelation hardly mentioned in the mainstream media is how the planned actions of the USA would have directly supported the progress of ISIS and lead to further mass deaths. This is in addition to the direct involvement they already have in training and arming them through their proxies of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The undemocratic anti people TTIP agreement between EU-USA has it's counter part in the Pacific region and it is called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) which is equally as bad. The purpose of the two agreements is to permanently push back democracy and sovereign rights of peoples of huge areas of the world. It is the ultimate global corporate power grab. Regrettably the TPP was signed by representatives from 12 countries on Feb 4th and on the same day tens of thousands of people protested throughout New Zealand against the formal signing. The signing follows years of secret negotiations between the US, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. Approximately 20,000 people marched through Queen Street and thousands rallied outside the SkyCity Casino in Auckland where the deal was signed. For the past year, there have been numerous reports that ISIS have been transporting the oil they have stolen from Iraq and Syria, to Turkey and this has been greatly facilitated by the Turkish state at the highest levels. It is widely known the oil was being sold and exported by BMZ Ltd owned by Bilal Erdogan, President Erodgan's son. It is extremely unlikely that they are doing this for nothing and tens of millions have probably been siphoned off by the Erdogan family and other key officials and the Turkish economy has no doubt benefitted from an injection of cheap stolen oil sold below world market rates. The Russian Defense Ministry on Dec 2nd revealed the vast scale of the oil smuggling operation which somehow was missed by the NATO/US in the past 2 years. ... read full story / add a comment

In the recent elections in Venezuela the right wing opposition long backed by Washington has secured a majority by winning 107 out of 167 seats. This is the first time since the early days of deceased former president Chavez rose to power that the right has had control of the parliament. This allows them to to remove ministers from the presidential cabinet. Had they won 111 seats, they would have been enough power in the legislative body to dismiss Supreme Court Judges, reform the Constitution and convoke a recall referendum of the national executive without having collected the minimum quota of signatures required by the Bolivarian Constitution. It is likely they will try this anyhow. In the second victory for the empire, the neo-liberal right wing got back into power in Argentina just two weeks ago in late November with the election of right-wing candidate Mauricio Macri from one of the country's richest families ... read full story / add a comment

It is over a week since the Paris Attack and the slaughter of innocent people. Europe is now suffering the spillover of the terrorism and wars launched by Western powers including France on the Middle East and Arab world for over a decade now and it seems the war is being brought home. Looking at the actual efforts on not just French society but Europe, it just so happens to serve the creeping totalitarian state and the 0.1% and corporate power. This article tries to put together some context and background to see if it is possible to figure out whether this appalling carnage was simply blowback of French foreign policy and or even some kind of black operation. The 2015 Stop Tax Dodging report, released in Ireland on 4th November by Debt & Development Coalition Ireland (DDCI) scrutinises the role of the EU in the global tax crisis.

In the last two months, the dramatic and sad photographs of 3 year old Aylan Kurdi, and his brother lying dead on the shores on a beach in Turkey have finally opened the curtain very slightly on the horrors and terror of war in Syria. It is hard to conceive the trauma of this family first seeing one of their other brothers beheaded by ISIS jihadists, then to flee and then for this man's wife and two remaining young children to drown in the sea whilst attempting to escape. If you were to listen to politicans from the UK all the way up to the present prime minister, you would think they were doing this so they could scab off the social welfare but as anyone knows, this was the act of a family desperate to flee the terror in their home country and get to safety at all costs. We are reproducing this very important article by Brandon Turbeville from Activist Post in light of the constant stream of propaganda about terrorism and the recent attacks in which unfortunately three Irish people were killed including others who are just as important, in order to show that there is a direct link to US government foreign policy. In turn this foreign policy serves the corporate state which are the same forces pushing things like TTIP and neo liberal policies, austerity, social deprivation, worse working conditions, destruction of the environment and of course the creeping totalitarian state.
When researchers such as myself have reported that the United States is funding al-Qaeda, Nusra, ISIS and other related terror organizations in Syria, we were not kidding. Still, despite the fact that even the U.S. government itself has admitted that it was funding terrorists– directly and indirectly through Saudi Arabia, the suggestion was met with disbelief, ridicule, or either entirely ignored. They are warning that international corporations such as Monsanto are taking more and more control of resources needed for food production. As recent research shows, the European Patent Office (EPO) is about to grant 30 patents on plants derived from conventional breeding to Monsanto and its affiliated companies.
