Just in case anyone in the SEELB area was wondering who the Governments appointed commissioners are. As you can see they represent a wide range of views that will enable them to make the right choices for the children, parents and employees in the area. Just checking there are two blue moons in the sky, and the pigs are on the runway ready for take off!!!! Douglas Osler- Chairman of the Scottish Conservative policy advisory group. Joan Christie O.B.E- Company Director, Chair of Ballymoney District policing partnership, Deputy Lieutenant of the county. Lawson McDonald-Accountant and former senior executive with the investment agency the Industrial Development Board. Pat Carvill-Former permanent secretary of the Department of education and the Department of finance and personnel in Northern Ireland, Member of the Government appointed Advisory Council of the Partnership UK 2002/03. Ógra Shinn Féin held an international youth in struggle weekend in Belfast last weekend (11th– 13th August). Ógra activists travelled from all over Ireland to be present at the weekend, while international comrades from Colombia, Catalonia, The Basque Country and the Socialist Labour Party Youth of Britian also travelled to take part in the weekend. Ógra Shinn Féin formally launched their recent publication looking at the hunger strike of 1981 on Saturday 12th August. Awaiting the Lark is a collection of personal memories, recollections and accounts from different republicans about the Hunger Strike of 1981 and was launched in the Felons club in West Belfast. Hundreds of people attended the launch, mostly youth. Raymond McCartney MLA, Dominic Adams, Michelle Gildernew MP and Seanna Walsh performed the launch. read full story / add a comment

On Saturday 12th August in Belfast approximately 300 people marched through the crowded city centre to City Hall demonstrating against Israeli aggression in both Lebanon and Gaza. The demand was for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the carnage and an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and from the Occupied Palestinian Territories. read full story / add a comment ![]()

An Ógra Shinn Féin delegation attended a youth exclusion seminar in St. Mary’s University in Belfast on Thursday 3rd August. ‘Generation X’ looked at a number of issues affected the youth today. It was attended by a number of young people and a large number of people working within the youth sector. The purpose of the conference was to begin to trigger a debate and discussionon how working class communities can begin to effectively tackle the whole issue of youth exclusion and participation. read full story / add a comment ![]()

If you think of North Antrim, or Indeed Ireland, then the first natural wonder that you think about is the Giant's Causeway. So where better to send a message of solidarity to the oppressed people of Lebanon from, than the stoney steps of the Giants Causeway. This was one of only a number of events held at in North Antrim this weekend.
